Jamal hameedi himself has said the '13 GT500 has been designed not for street-light-to-street-light, not just drag racing but for all-around performance. An IRS is not designed to improve straight-ahead performance anywhere near as much as it is designed to stabilize the car in turns and cornering. Both of these cars are far more than just quarter-mile or pony cars. To say they aren't at home on a road course is akin to saying you've not read or heard a single word written or said about either of them. You do know that Shelby himself said this GT500 is faster around a road course than the ford GT, ford's preeminent track car...haven't you? To label these cars "not at home on a road course" is blind ignorance.

you should really go back and read what I wrote....and also find me the quote or video where Shelby himself said the GT500 was faster than the FGT. I have heard that, but it did not come from shelby. That statement came from a different source. Also the lineage and roots of these cars is straight line, they are evolved to handle road course duty, but it is not their greatest strength. Both cars offer great all around performance for the street and occasional track duty (strip and track) which you choose is up to you....and thank you captain obvious for telling me an IRS does not help straight line speed, thats painfully obvious to the camaro crowd with their SC beast only turning mid 12's consistently. Just admit it, these cars will mostly see stop light to stop light racing and the rare trips to the track by few owners. Others will be garage, show queens. Not realizing this fact is blind ignorance

I don't give a rat's *** what everyone else is going to do with theirs; I care what I'm going to do with mine, and that's put it on a track every weekend I have available. As far as what the cars are capable of or designed to do, I think I'll take Mr. Hameedi's word over yours. He seems to actually know what he's talking about.
You: "zl1 and GT500 are pony cars, they are not at home on a road course." Uh, Mr. Hameedi and the entire SVT development team on line one for you. Regarding the explanation for IRS, you seemed to think the camaro wasn't designed to handle turns; the explanation was purely for your benefit. I'd think you'd be appreciative, since you knew it was on the car and yet still insisted the car wasn't designed for the road courses...or is there a 1/4 mile drag strip somewhere with a chicane in the middle of it?

Lol...who is saying they didn't?
Do you know who is driving the cars, specifically the camaro? How is anyone to know whether that's the car's owner or a guy who wants to make the camaro look bad? Do you know if the guy in the camaro was trying to see if he could match the boss while in a higher gear than the boss? Do you know for certain the boss isnt modded to its eyeballs? It's one thing to have motor trend put something like this together, but this ain't motor trend.
I'm not saying GM built a better car; personally I hope the disparity between the ZL1 and the Shelby is as wide as some say it is, because when I take my '13 GT500 to the track it will be that much easier to beat them. But that video is hardly "proof" of anything.

A stock Boss 302 on DRs will run in the High 11s so with a good driver and the CAI/Tune its possible to run stock ZL1 times with the Boss.
