safe to assume...
if you have any driving skills whatsoever, a stock 2013 GT500 or a very lightly modded Boss will beat a zl1 in a roll race.....

apparently not the new ones....the gearing helps with that
a guy on SVTP beat a Z06 by half a car in a roll race( 13 GT500 v. 09 Z06, catback only) they did it several times from a 60 roll and each with same result, GT500 by half a car

well then whats the zl1's excuse with its 5 PTM modes and super magic magnetic ride control?? either way its going to be real ugly for the zl1 against a GT500, especially the ones running around now that are modded....GM failed, just admit it

Lol...who is saying they didn't?
Do you know who is driving the cars, specifically the camaro? How is anyone to know whether that's the car's owner or a guy who wants to make the camaro look bad? Do you know if the guy in the camaro was trying to see if he could match the boss while in a higher gear than the boss? Do you know for certain the boss isnt modded to its eyeballs? It's one thing to have motor trend put something like this together, but this ain't motor trend.
I'm not saying GM built a better car; personally I hope the disparity between the ZL1 and the Shelby is as wide as some say it is, because when I take my '13 GT500 to the track it will be that much easier to beat them. But that video is hardly "proof" of anything.

Someone will unfortunately prove me right at some point. And yes, that's probably not true when traveling at 80 in 6th gear, but I'd bet a tidy sum that car can be broken loose anywhere in the power band in 1st through 5th.

just to give you a quick answer: yes I know the owner and driver of that zl1. He is no noob or slouch. He got beat, thats all. The zl1 is a great car, it just doesnt do what GM said it would. The way they claimed a "1.6 60 foot with stock tires, 11.9@121 1/4 mile" is total bull, these cars are clearly trapping 115-119 on average, the Boss is in the same range with a great driver. Plain and simple, from a roll takes out some of the variables and a N/A car with 3 bolt ons was able to beat a SC6.2L by more than a car length. That speaks volumes on both sides....

Here's proof kco. Point blank, the ZL1 doesn't belong in the same sentence with the mighty 13' GT500.

That makes no sense to me as to why GM would make the camaro a road race car. That is what the Corvette is for. It seems like they are conceding the fact that the Shelby will slay it on the street and 1/4 and saying that as a saving grace hoping the mustang will be behind it on a road course .

im still trying to understand GM...
zl1, a 4200 lb supercharged muscle car being marketed as a track car
then they annouce the 1LE, to be a slimmed down version of the SS to compete with the Boss 302, which IS a track car
zl1 and GT500 are pony cars, they are not at home on a road course. can they perform there, yes...the zl1 will 1 to 2 laps then heatsoak will kill it. Where they belong is at a drag strip and roll racing....which the GT500 will clearly dominate
for everyone trying to point out "assume" if you actually read what I wrote, it continues to the first line and its about roll racing. I dont assume anything about a road course.....
