Rough in Drive-thru?

You think all cars were held for only having a mis-sticker and that's all they were checking for?
You have no idea HOW many items were being checked for, and how many cars were checked, and how many people were testing those issues.
So no he doesn't know, he just assumes.
He's the case in MY point, not what was done to the cars.

Perhaps some of these sounds are coming from the variable valve timing which as far as I know is more complicated on the 5.0 than it was on the 4.6. Coming from the front wheel wells is about the area where that mechanism is located.

Yea, I know there is alot going on in that area, e.g. VCT and so forth, and previous models were definitely louder when hot.
The idle quality and engine noises as a package on this car seem to create something pretty crappy when you're up against a wall of any kind. Again, for me, it seems to be way worse on the passenger side, but I don't know why.
I might be more **** about this than most, but if it really is "normal," then there's got to be many 5.0 owners who have noticed it.

Yep noticed it as well, first time I noticed it was against a guard rail. Which is next to section of wall, at a stop light, on my way home. I tracked it to be around the same area, more pronounced when crouched and listening by the front wheels.

Thanks. It's not the injectors -- I can hear those clearly when I raise the hood (and know what to listen for there). This sound seems to come from underneath the car or around the front wheels -- especially the passenger side. It is actually worse when the car is hot, so I doubt a cold start computer reflash would change anything.
When I pushed the dealer, they allegedly had a Ford rep listen to it, who also pronounced it normal. It's not bad or anything, I just can't imagine this is how Ford expects it's 5.0s to sound.
Car was built in May, if memory serves.

Mine also makes a noticeable ticking noise at/around idle when next to a wall that can reflect the engine sounds. I've assumed it's normal. As for the overall engine sound, I'd say for pretty much any engine, it's generally only the induction and exhaust that can potentially sound good. However, when you are parked next to a wall in a car with fairly quiet stock exhaust, you will mostly hear mechanical noise from parts moving, which never sounds that good. If it bothers you, you could try either a sound tube mod or louder exhaust.
I think a side effect of the modern cold air induction system is that it muffles most of the induction sound, which is probably why they started the whole sound tube thing to begin with. If it had a more open intake that would let more of the induction sound escape, it would most likely sound better overall, though you would probably lose some performance.

Skotty et al, thanks.
At idle, I can't even hear my engine or any of it's noises with the windows up -- so it's not bad. For those who have noticed it, have you noticed one side worse than the other? For me, the passenger side sounds funkier than the driver's. Very strange.
I would not have thought that I would sacrifice engine "quietness" for performance in today's age, but maybe that's still a price to be paid. Walk up next to an Edge or a Focus, and you can barely tell the car is running. And, yes, I realize these are different cars with much less performance.
