401A-is it worth it?

I have been looking at 2011 5.0s for a few weeks now but cant find the one that has everything I want. Im looking for a black, manual trans, brembo package, with 3.73s, and whats holding me back, the 401A package. I really like the package but it is impossible to find one with all the functional add ons and still having the 401A package. I really like all the features and think its a great value package but I dont think Ill be able to find one and my uncle is looking to buy my truck pretty soon so im not sure if he can wait while I wait for a car i order.

My question for you guys is do you think i should wait to see if i can find one or just order one, or settle for one with everything but the 401A?

Get what you want, don't compromise with a $35K+ purchase. I ordered exactly what I wanted.

Go to the dealer and tell him the options you want and get them to search for one for you.

Order what you want from the dealer. Let your uncle take the bus until it comes in or get something else. Since you are selling it to a family member I am sure he is getting it for less than market value or even what you will get from trade in. So if he gets something else just sell it when your car gets in.

Good luck.

My .02 probably not worth that.

It definitely shouldn't be something that is going to make or break your decision. The 400 is very suitible I actually prefer it to the 401. As I like the dash better and seat structure and can live without the lil mustangs on the door.

If you want Brick Red, definitely order or keep looking. I could have settled for Black, and gotten my Race Red vert much sooner, but ever day when I open the door, the POP of that color makes me grateful I waited for it.

Go with the 401A. The Brembos are overrated and too expensive. 3:73's can be added later for $200-$300. The 401A cannot be added later, and you'll notice the lack of it every time you step into the car.

the brembo package is a good deal though. the brakes+ plus the suspension mods+ the wheels and tires. I think its worth the $1695.

and i did a gear swap in my last mustang, $700 install alone

I'm with you on adding the 401A but I have to disagree on the Brembo's and 3.73s. The Brembo package is a great deal considering what you are getting for the money (brakes, wheels, and tires). Also adding gears will certainly cost more than 300 bucks. Installation can be pricey, and there's always the issue of finding a tech who actually knows how to install them properly. Nothing like factory warrantied gears. Just my thoughts.

CA, that one would be perfect except the shaker 1000. i have no need for audio when ill have a loud exhaust almost immediatly. i dont really want the comfort package but i could pay the extra on that car for it

All of my vehicles and almost all of the wife's vehicles have been special-ordered.

They cost the same and I get exactly what I want.

This is applicable in so many situations: "what would wingless do?" I'm getting that on tee shirts for the family. These will also be offered for sale on this web site, unless prohibited by the terms of service.

In this case wingless would special-order and wait for the new ride.

This post has images showing the interior on my loaded GT, w/ the 401A.

I will buy one of those tshirts! I removed the wing on current car!

And OP, if you're wanting the 401A with a Black base, you might as well find a car similar with 400A. You can add the shiftknob/boot and dash panels later. If you wanted the Red interior I'd say order it. But its not that different when you're comparing black 400A to black 401A.

Also, could you let your uncle drive your truck when he needed it, if you were to order? Or is it your/his only means of transportation?

The 401A was the main reason I bought my car.

First off, the 2010 Track Pack is now the 2011 standard GT suspension. I have found nothing which indicates that you get something more than wheels and tires if you get the Brembo package. If I am mistaken, I would be happy if you pointed out why. It is my understanding that with the Brembo pack, you get the brakes, the 19 inch wheels, a tweak to the TCS, and that's it.

Second, $700 for a gear install??!!!!

Do you live anywhere near Southern California?? I got my 3:73's done for $250.00 at a very, very good facility and I would be happy to recommend them to you if you needed similar work done in the future.

I still say go with the 401A if you can.
