1999 mustang engine problems

Hey guys im new to this forum , and need some help. I have a 1999 mustang 3.8 v6 45th anniversary, i have roughly 136,000 miles on it and has never missed a beat. Recently i was driving and all of the sudden im getting a misfire , randomly at times and then it will run good , then run like crap and then back again. It also takes 2-3 times to get it started. I went through the whole car, did plugs, wires, starter, cam sensor , coil , took a screwdriver to the injectors while it was running to see if they were clicking also. They all seemed great. Im not a fresh mechanic , im pretty experienced and have been around cars my whole life. This car is giving me some trouble though! Once it starts the car idles perfectly and doesnt miss at all at idle . But when i start driving sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesnt. I had it scanned codes p1309- cam sensor i believe? po302- cylinder 2 po306- cylinder 6. Someone please help? i didn't install the cam sensor so maybe the shop installed it wrong? or are the injectors bad? or could it possibly be the crank position sensor? or even the pcm? thanks guys in advance! -dakota

Have you cleaned the throttle body? Maybe a coil going bad? Has the fuel filter been changed recently? Check the connection at the cam sensor. I don't think that would cause the issue you are having though.

You say wires and random misfires in the same sentence, leads me to think the distribution cab and the button under the cap are going bad, replacing those should help the misfires

Yes I'm using logical deduction here as generally whenever you have multiple misfires it will point out that the two parts, single misfire generally is either a plug or wire from my experience

Its crazy the trouble its giving me , It has a brand new coil on it , but the plugs were fouled , this weekend when i pulled them, i replaced them again and checked gaping each cylinder.Still takes 2-3 times to start and has a misfires while driving. I am going to test the coil this weekend , and see if maybe i got a faulty coil , then do a compression test just to be sure , and any other ideas?
