Reverse issues

So yesterday as I was leaving the house I put the car in reverse and turned the wheel and started backing up. As I was turning in reverse I heard a clunking noise and felt like I ran over something. I got out to look and see and there was nothing there. So I chalked it up as a one time thing and went about my business. Now today anytime I go in reverse no matter what direction I turn the wheel it feels like I am hitting potholes. It's really bad if I am at more than a crawl as I reverse. It inst a one time clunk either, it does it till I am done driving in reverse. You can def feel it in the steering wheel when it happens as well. I looked under the car to make sure I hadn't ran over anything and there was nothing out of the ordinary there. Anyone ever run into this problem?

Sounds like a broken gear tooth, take it to the dealer.

Haven't seen any other posts describing the same thing on any forum.

Does that only effect turning while in reverse? If I reverse straight back it doesn't make any noise.

Hmmm...

Guess that wasn't clear to me from your first post.

That would make me think the problem is in the differential then.

Is there an update on what you did to fix this or did you have it checked out? I have a 2011 and mine does the same...in reverse...close to turning at the the steering stop and I get a clunk! Seems like a consistent thing.
Let me know what you did or if you're just living with it.
Thanks

I was going to say it sounds like maybe something in the limited slip/posi carrier. Something that needs to be check ASAP.

The issue is definitely not coming from the rear-end. I'm pretty sure it is a front end thing. Feels like a physical interference type thing. I looked to see if the front wheels were hitting the strut when at full lock but didn't see anything. Seems like it should forwards too so I'll check. I usually back into the garage off a busy street so I need to use all the steering. I'll figure it out, Thanks

Hey guys, figured I'd let you know what I found... I do notice it at full lock going forward too. I got out and checked and what I've discovered is that at full lock and the suspension set up (mine is stock) the inside tire is at a greater attack angle than the outside tire. Imagine if your front wheels are tow out (just easy to imagine like this-use your hands!) and you turn the wheels (each wheel moving the same distance) the inside tire is going to be turned sharper than the outside one. So the clunk I've found to be one of the wide sticky tires loading against the pavement and then releasing. There is no interference anywhere. I imagine other cars would do it too...but it is more noticeable with wider wheels and tires. So no big deal! I am just glad I know what it is! The car is pimp...It read me a text message today! That is insane!

The inside tire is supposed to turn different than the outside tire, it's called "Ackerman" steering angle. It's because when you turn, the inside tire turns on a smaller radius than the outside tire. If they didn't turn at different rates then there would be a lot of scrub between the two tires.

Exactly, just thought I would dumb it down. This is what I am saying is causing the noise and not an issue or problem.

If it was noticeable enough for you to get out of the car and look for whatever you just ran over than it's not normal. I wonder if it has something to do with the new electric steering system?

I think it is just a normal character trait of the car. I think it is as normal as tire scrub from a locked or limited slip rearend around a sharp corner like everyone originally thought this problem was. I guess 5PTOHH could be referring to something different than me.

I notice this when the car is cold and I'm backing out of the driveway or a parking spot. From everything I've read, sounds like just a normal trait of the car.
