Sullivan Racing Profucts sell some nice pedals for our car. The clutch and brake pedals ate a little wider. They have two different gas pedals, one is slightly wider on the left than the stocker and the other is even wider. The smaller of the two is what went with. With theses pedals I can simply roll my foot over to the gas.

So what is the trick to doing a well executed rev-matched downshift in these cars with the throttle lag? I tried it a few times and got frustrated quickly and quit. I usually just let the clutch out slowly to avoid the jerk, I know that does put some wear on the clutch.

To you other guys who can't do it either: don't feel too bad, I am a drummer and I can't do it!

What I've learned with ec throttles is to not be afraid to put your foot into it. I doubt the throttle is that unresponsive. If I can be effective in a 4 cyl then the Mustang should be no problem.

Sometimes it will seem like you've given too muh but the adaptive throttle helps you out. I hardly, if ever over rev. But it's fairly quick for an ec throttle. But I miss the cable throttle.

I pull out the clutch slowly to avoid jerking also, is that bad for the clutch???? (I'm a double bass drummer btw)

Any time you slip the clutch like that, youre shortening its life...but there are worse habits out there.

I rev match nearly any downshift unless I need help slowing down quickly.

It's either slip the clutch or jerk the car and risk screwing up transmission is there anyway to get a win out of manual?

You just slip the clutch slightly. Your still gonna get 100k miles out of your clutch, and wont accidently f up your transmission.

If you sit on the clutch for 3 seconds during every shift, you'll shorten its life. You're not going to shorten its life by shifting normally, and doing that requires that you slip it a little bit. Otherwise, you jerk the hell out of the car and the transmission. You're not going to kill your clutch in six months or five years by making smooth shifts.

Go back and read this thread...I think you'll find that this basic part of operating a manual transmission has been well covered.

When you properly rev match... you'll neither slip the clutch nor "jerk" the transmission.

Just give it a try...you'll eventually get good at it.

I have been practicing heel-toe for the past two days...not ready for the track yet but I'm already a hell of a lot better at it than I was last time I tried.
