How did you guys remove your stock rear spoiler? I took out the 4 screws but i can not get the thing off. Any secrets?

 

Take fishing line or weed eater string and work it underneath the spoiler. Use a sawing motion to cut through the 3M tape.

Pull the spoiler off and clean the surface very well. Goo gone works great to remove the residue.

You can also use an exacto knife to cut the tape if your careful.

 

What spoiler are you putting on?

 

A little heat helps as well. A hair dryer or heat gun, or even letting it sit in the sun before trying to remove it should let the adhesive release easier.

 

The Fishing line trick is a definite must! Also pick a warm day so your not taking chunks of paint up too, and buy a trim removal set that's really soft nylon plastic, and a heat gun. Take your time and it'll be off before you know it.

 

Fishing line will ONLY help on the outside... there are screw studs that will block it from going down the entire spoiler...

I ended up leaving mine in the sun for a bit, and then pushing UP on the bottom side of the spoiler.

 

Comes off pretty easy when hot. Let sit in son for a while and the heat gun on bottom side. Pull up with steady force and the tape will begin releasing.

 

Sounds a little painful for the poor boy.

I can see this coming a mile ahead....have someone hold the spoiler while you're doing the nylon string thing ! Just sayin' !

Removing a spoiler isn't really that complicated at all lol.
