Long story short, my rear spoiler came off my 2002 Mustang while getting pushed in a snowy/icy parking lot. It looks as if it was just held on by double sided tape, and 1 or 2 metal clips on each side. Is this something I can fix myself by snapping it back into place with some 3M tape, or does a body shop need to get involved?

No damage appears to have been done to either the spoiler or any part of the rear deck. Nothing looks broken or snapped, except for a small strip of the black tape appearing to be pealing off the rear deck.

Sorry to hear about the spoiler. Was it a factory spoiler or aftermarket? I thought the spoilers were bolted on. Spoiler should be an easy driveway job, though.

Spoiler was the factory spoiler.

Do I qualify for the carpool lane now that my spoiler is riding shotgun?

I'd check for new clips, and tape.

Also, you could investigate bolting it on too.

Clips are still attached to the vehicle, as is the tape. 2 metal clips on both sides. Spoiler itself doesn't appear to be damage. When it warms up some, I'll try sliding it back into place and taping it down.

Mine has two hex bolts each side. If it was stuck on, it might have been an aftermarket addition (like mine, the car was originally sold without one). If it was taped on, it looks like the previous owner didn't have the ***** to drill his deck lid (it was quite scary, let me tell you!!). But, I would really advise getting it bolted in place.

the spoiler has 2 bolts on each side + double sided tape to help it stay steady also. If it was just on there by double sided tape trust me it'd come flying off during regular driving. If the bolts/clips came undone either A. look for a new clip/bolts at ford or you can fix the 1s that broke off with simple JB weld and new double sided tape. Most ford dealers have a body shop also, you can check that out and have them do it for you if you arent comfortable doing it.

Took the car to a local Ford dealer. They said the spoiler is broken beyond repair. I'm contemplating taking it to another dealer, or a 3rd party body shop. The clips are still attached to the trunk (they were ripped OUT of the spoiler). There are a few SMALL cracks near the clip holes in the spoiler, so not sure if it can be repaired...

Checking out e-bay, saw replacement bolt-on fiberglass spoilers for $180 or so. Easy to bolt on?
