I wonder if the dealer fixes something like this, if they report it to Carfax / etc. That would suck hard, since it will haunt you if you try to sell the car later (or trade it in).

I would take a touch up on an inconspicuous spot anytime.... out of sight, out of mind as far as I'm concerned!! I'm so meticulous about color and orange peel matching to factory specs, I do paintless dent repairs for a living and working an area with prior bodywork unless done by a top notch repair shop will pit and scratch VERY easily compared to the factory finish... so if bodywork can be avoided for small stuff I would highly recommend

I say do a 360 around the car, pay attention to bumpers, fenders sides etc

then interior look for loose panels and scratches on them especially on the nav screen

its good idea to do this under florescent lighting

I found several areas on my car where it appeared as if there was a small (maybe 1/4 of the size of a bb) piece of something stuck on the car that they just painted over it. Lump in middle of paint. Also the quality of either the clearcoat or paint itself on the front clip is terrible. While trying to wipe a chunk of tar off the front clip (tried a little alcohol followed by a clean, wet towel), I took the clearcoat off the paint leaving a nice flat silver area probably 3 inches long by 1 inches wide. I brought it to the dealership I bought it from and the body shop guy said he had never seen the paint/clearcoat come off the car like that. After he submitted pics to Ford they requested more pics. I sent about 5 or 6 more, they actually agreed to repaint the front clip and also fixed all the spots where there was debris under the paint. I get tar on the front of my car all the time with most major highways here in INDY under construction. Anyone have any products they can recommend that ACTUALLY remove tar without harming the paint?? The clearcoat on the front still seems awfully prone to easy scratching even if you wipe it with a tericloth towel.

Goof off now makes a product with orange and citrus formula and comes in a plastic pump bottle vs the can. It's not anywhere as harsh as their other products.

Btw I would never use the goof off that comes in the small yellow can on your auto paint. The new formula works great on removing adhesive and tar. I live it Indy as well. I drove through ghetto 86th and got tar all over the wells and fenders. I couldn't even scratch the tar off with my nails once it dried but the new goof off did an amazing job.

I bought a product at the county fair a few years ago that takes off just about anything. They had a few products but the powder is the one you want. It's called Perma Seal. I also have used the liquid wax for less stubborn spots.
