oil catch cans
Cons: None.
Pros: Keep crap out of your intake that lowers your effective octane rating.
Check out my build thread, there's a photo there of the inside of my PCV line from when I first brought my car home. It had 20 kms on it. Not 20,000, just 20, two-zero. It was already pooling in there. It is a GT mind you, but that was it. Catch can went on, never looked back. Absolute must-have mod, at least for GT's.

That is where you are very incorrect. Ford Racing recommends using one with their ProCal flashes if you get pinging on acceleration, which means Ford knows it's a problem, it just doesn't cause problems on the conservative stock tune. Far as I'm concerned, have actually looked at the lines in my car, the amount of oil that comes through is significant. Oil in the intake charge absolutely does lower your fuel's octane rating. I plan on keeping my car for a good long time, and I don't want any of that crap getting through.

Guys/gals don't even think twice about picking up one of these Steeda oil separators. After you install this, take a look after two weeks and imagine that oil making its way into your intake - that wouldn't be good! Thanks Steeda Autosports - See more at: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-billet-....9lmSMYtl.dpuf
It shocked me to see how much oil this separator caught after one week of daily driving and a weekend of auto cross. I did notice the car idled smoother after hard runs on the track, it used to shudder from time to time after a run. Great product and looks stock. I got the non- engraved one because I didn't want 5.0 plastered all over the car. I've seen some people on the message boards asking if you need two or which side of the engine. For 2011 and up all you need is one on the passenger side. - See more at: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-billet-....9lmSMYtl.dpuf
To be honest when I first got this part I didn't expect it to do much other than look pretty in my engine bay. I was surprised to find a teaspoon of oil after only 200 miles of having installed it. I was very impressed with how well it worked. I've read that these are important because they keep oil from the crankcase from getting into your intake manifold through the PCV lines, reducing detonation, oil burning and deposits. It looks very nice and feels solid. Plus it's made in the USA! Unlike the other brands that have a bracket that simply adds unnecessary weight or the other one that doesn't even catch any oil, you will not be disappointed with the Steeda unit. - See more at: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-billet-....9lmSMYtl.dpuf

After 20kms...literally my drive home from the dealer when I bought my car, there was oil pooling already in the passenger side PCV line. I collect an ounce every 1000-1500 kms depending on how hard I drive. People who spend time on track report quite a bit more than this. That is absolutely enough to affect effective octane rating in the combustion chamber. Why would the Ford Racing people recommend one to the people who have pinging on their tunes, when FR doesn't even sell one themselves?

I don't track mine, but I have been doing this a long time. I know what's good for my engine and what's not. And oil through the intake isn't good for anybody's engine.
I think ford pups ly left it out so we'd spend money taking it in for service $$$$$ can we saw cash cow ?
since I put one in my throttle body stays so much cleaner even my mass air flow sensor. oh yah it may pick up about an once a week &the can is small plug & pla so for a $100.00 for an ST from American Muscle plug & play unit it's far more than paid for itself.
