its going to be VERY DIFFICULT to make this next gen Stang look better than the current S197 GT and GT500...
i'm willing to bet it might take a few generations before its as cool as the current one
look how long it took them to come up with the S197 since the '67-68 stangs...

First of all ! the 2010 is NOT the next gen Stang..It's an updated re-style of the current S-197..
Although every body panel will be changed. The current greenhouse will remain the same, and carry over (similar to the SN-95 re-style ala 98/99)
That being said, the next gen Stang won't arrive, until at least 2012/13

Ok I don't know about you, but I consider the 98 to 99 different, regardless of the symantics about the Chassis.
its a different car with different look and different interior...
When people say next gen... they really mean the next 'look change' most of the time, and not an actual chassis/platform change.

The next mustang (2010) better be cooler and look better. The current car is sweet but there will be a sweeter looking car next year. Add to it the SYNC and other refined tech and standard features. It has to be to keep up with competition and the times. The 2005 is a leap forward from 2004. Some will never sell their '03 Cobra for a GT500, some won't part with their '01 Bullitt for an '08. Heck, I still get excited over a clean Fox notchback passing by. Fact of the matter, the 05-09 Model brought a lot of people back to Mustang and Ford. The design is timeless but dated at the same time.
my favorite so far is the 2008 BULLITT. But I can't wait for the next
design. My fav's in order are 05-09, 87-93, 67-68. I know the 2010 will top that list.

In other words, similar to the SN-95 re-style from 98 to 99..
Perhaps my wording wasn't quite clear enough, however I never claimed nor did I ever consider the SN-95, as NOT being different from 98 to 99..but was trying to get across, that only the greenhouse remained from 98 and carried over to the 99..
As for the interior..the basic twin cockpit dash/gauges, along with the door panels, and steering wheel..also remained un-changed through out the SN-95's 10 year production run..
I don't know about you, but despite it's body panel changes..I don't recall anyone who considered the 99 re-style, as the next gen Stang..
It was simply referred to as, the re-designed SN-95..
Although the 2010 will have a different look, and different interior..The current greenhouse, will remain the same. As will the basic platform, and S-197 model #..
Therefore, as far as I'm concerned..The next gen Stang won't arrive, until at least the 2012/13 model year..

However, the 2003 concept didn't have hips, but the 2010 sure will

I personally would love for the '10 to be just like the 03' concept cars! Don't get me wrong I love the 05-09 cars too but I was kinda let down at first when I saw the production model compaired to the concept cars. I just think the concept cars have such a mean look and stance. If the 10' looks a lot like the concept car count me in for an '10 SVT!

I agree, add back seats to the '03 concept, change the wheels and it'd be perfect.
Don't forget, the concept was designed after the '05, so it'd give an indication as to where J Mays thought the design could head.

IMHO. I don't foresee any substantial changes, until at least 2012/13.
In which the next generation Mustang..is expected to arrive.

In my view, the only thing the interior needs are some better quality plastics and an improved heating controls/stereo section. This, to me, is too modern, and needs more of a retro redsign.

Well, the Current body reflects the history in the 1969 with the 4 Lights. I would Love to see a slight change to reflect the 1970, move the lights in a little bit, add some hips. That would be a Hot Car!!!
