I wish we could get someone who went to the study group to tell us if we are close.

 

Some of the most unreliable Cadillacs had that variable displacement option. I hope GM has fixed the evils of that system since the new Vettes, upcoming Camaro's and probably the other G8 derivatives will have it too.

The thing that struck me most when I first popped the hood on my 08 was how similar the top of the motor looked to an LS2 with the den of snakes intake and coil on plug ignition. I wouldn't be surprised to see it as an option but I'm guessing Ford will wait to see how well it's received in a Chevy.

 

I don't think Ford is gonna wait to see how it plays out with Chevy, from what I have read Ford already is developing variable displacement for their next line of V-8s........ My friend has a 5.7 Charger with variable displacement and it works great you can't even feel the switch. Those Caddys had old tech i'm sure the next batch will be much improved. Heck, even Honda V-6s have it........give it a couple years and the whole industry will have some form of variable displacement!

 

Yes, ford is working that and incorporating Direct Injection.

Hips aside, I keep thinking I almost see the 69 style qtr scoop under that camo.

 

I just figured they might want to see how problematic it would be before deciding to go with that option. Warranty issues, driveability problems, etc. Thought they might have a different idea in the pipeline since I haven't heard much about variable displacement from the Ford camp but hear nothing else from the GM camps.

I wonder how well variable displacement is going to work with a manual transmission. I mean my doors don't even automatically lock because of my manual tranny!

 

I hope your wrong on the qtr scoop. Maybe its just me but I hate non-functional scoops. thats one of the things that I love about the current Mustang, If it has scoops (GT500) it serves a purpose.....I wish the SN95 stangs had a clean styling approach like the 05.

 

I didn't really notice, until after you pointed it out. But it does appear to look very similar to the 69 style qtr scoop.

As for the hips..I can't really tell under the camo, as to whether there actual hips..Or if there just, flared out quarter panels.

 

 

 

Man, I jsut cannot stand that scoop on the '69/'70. Especially since the shaker looks soo much better on that hood.

 

Thats only the Boss 429 hood scoop. It was unique to that car. Most 70' Models had a plain flat hood... I personally love it and would sell my soul to the Devil for a black 1970 Boss 429

 

notice on that spy shot. on the hood theres a little rectangle thingy right above where the heat extractors are on the GT500....just saying that could be a GT500 hood on it.

 

I did notice that the rear end is still jacked up too high!

 

I don't think that's going to change.

 

Probably has more to do with aerodynamics and/or crash performance than anything else. Maybe trunk volume as well ,but I don't see nose bleed altitude level trunks going away any time soon.

 

Yea, it's really odd when cars of all varieties have good looking ride heights and little wheel gap and the Mustang looks like it's ready to tackle the Rubicon..

 

It appears were not going to see any real design changes, until the new platform arrives in 2012-13
