New 2013 5.0 at dealership??????
Um...I hate to say 'I told you so'...but...go back and see my original post early on in the thread - I pasted it above. The other user's posts suggesting the dealer would sell the car for low $30s are not being too realistic. If you dad wants the car (and it sounds like he does), maybe he should try a follow-up call, and move up to $39k. If that 2013 has some expensive options (Premium, Electronics Package, Comfort Package, etc.), then the dealer is correct, you cannot get too much lower on a 14 or 15. These items add big $$ to the price of the vehicle, period. Plus it's a convertible. We are not talking about a stripper base model.
That car will either sell for $10k off, or it won't sell at all. The longer it sits, the less likely the dealer is going to get the rip-off price they want for it. Eventually the dealer is going to have to eat it if they want to actually move it, which at some point they are going to have to.
It's not unrealistic for that car to sell in the low $30ks, there are a lot of '14s being advertised for $8k off all over the country. I'm pretty sure if you showed up with a printout of any car from any other dealer for $8k off they'd match that price in a heartbeat to move that '13, they'd be idiots not to. I mean honestly, is this place also only willing to sell '14s for sticker price? lol.

Now if the prospective buyer was a retired IT guy, he could throw up his own web page about this specific car. A basic web page showing the stock #, the factory price, the invoice price, MSRP, comparison to the identical '14 model, the TruCar price, and the average depreciation per day for the factory price.
All along with a nice animated gif of a pile of money on fire.
That along with a dated (and notorized - if your bank offer the service for free) of the current offer.
Updated and dated pix of the car STILL sitting on the lot would be hilarious.
Day after day, along with the depreciation ticker....
This would end up on Jalopnik under nice price or crack pipe eventually.

Guys, does this seem a bit odd that a dealership would still have a brand new, not used 2013 5.0 convertible listed for almost 43k. My father was over at this Ford dealership today and saw this. He can't believe they would have a new 5.0 from 2013 still. Heck, he said Ford doesn't even have incentives on the 2013 mustang models.
Why didn't this beauty sell? Wtf. My father wants to know what's a fair offer to make on this alleged new older 2013 model? Something seems strange to me but I come to you experts on this. Here is the dealerships web site and inventory of this 2013 5.0. Search new and hit 2013 model. It comes right up.

$43,920 = MSRP
$41,182 = Factory Invoice Total
$ 1,294 = Factory Holdback
$ 4,000 = Factory Final Pay to Dealer
-------------------------------------------
$35,888 = Break even point for dealer
So, at $35,888 the dealer will break even. That's a little more than $8K off MSRP.
Has anyone actually gone in to that dealership and seriously offered to buy it from them? They are listing MSRP on their website, but I'd bet you that they would be happy to entertain reasonable offers. Asking prices are just that - a starting point for negotiations to begin. The actual selling price is all that matters.

I got my 2014 5.0 in canada on September 28.
I paid $32,999 and it came to $38,000 with taxes and fees after papers were signed.
My buddy just traded his 2013 v6 for a new 14 GT. His price was $31,xxx or $32,xxx

5k in taxes and fees. Holy $hit. Glad I live in the United States. F Canada bro. Move to US. Ha ha ha
I just paid $30,100 for a GT base model with automatic. They had premiums on the lot that could be had for $35k. No way I would pay that much for a 2013. Regardless of the fact it is new the dealer needs to realize they are holding a depreciable asset regardless of whose driveway it is sitting in.
I only paid 42 for my GT/CS convertible with Electronics pack, shaker pro, comfort pack and a cover. AND there was zero percent financing.
Their Nuts!

People...many Mustang owners got great deals - and that is excellent. Timing is everything. But OPTIONS play a huge part of the price. This car in question has...Premium Package, Automatic Transmission, Reverse Sensing Package, Remote Start, Premium Wheels, and Convertible. This is nearly $4k in options. So please don't post up about base GTs for $30k. Of course base GTs are $30k. This is so far from a base GT, it is not apples to apples. The dealer will not entertain anything below $38k-$39k. Even if it means they are stuck with the car. They will figure it out. So trying to low-ball a low $30s price is a waste of time. Of course you should try to get the best deal possible. But if you're not even in the ball-park, then you won't even get to first base. See this vehicle's window sticker:
