MT82: Anyone else have a sense of impending doom?
Sounds like some people will accept anything rather than admit there is a problem. I do belive i stated that I would like to buy the car, but not till am sure the problem is fixed.
To bad you show your ignorance by resorting to name calling. grow up. I'll leave it at that.

So i m bought a 2013 Grabber Blue GT with 6spd with 4700 miles from the original owner who had to return the car to ford because of financial issues.
Anyhow i got the car for a great deal 26,900 with all the extras and extended warranty not from ford but actual one that covers everything. Anyhow car came out to be 34,599 with tax, license, gap insrance, extender service etc.
I LOVE THE CAR. Best mustang ever, i owned both a 97 ( Still do ) GT CVT and a 2001 GT CP and now this.
The ****ty problem is i first time today experience the GRINDING Issue by stepping on the car on a on ramp to about 6500RPM from 2nd to 3rd. I could not engage 3rd at all... tried twice and only to grind it... HOPEFULLY I DID NOT DAMAGE ANYTHING. It was loud but nothing bad since i let go immediately.
I scheduled an APT with Ford here in SAN TAN Valley. and Got a SERVICE MANAGER involved thanks to Deysha FOR SERVICE REP.
So yeah i could of driven the white MUSTANG 2001 GT anyway i wanted. Slammed those gears too.
With this brand new mustang I CANT I am scared ill break something.
I barley got 7500 miles on the thing... i almost put 3000 miles and this is because i been driving my fiancé back and to from work 120 miles each day until i fix her BMW...
After that i am going to garage my baby since i work from home... Regardless the EXTENDED Platinum plan should cover all issues manufactures defect or whatever as long its not abuse... I HAVE NOT EVEN DROVE THIS CAR LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE..
Maybe its my fault, i have to play around a little... to see if its me thats causing this not to work right...

First off, I am no apologist- I’m just a guy that recently spent 40K hard-earned dollars on a car that I’ve lusted after for years. I **** well get the frustration here. No one here is a stranger to disappointment or unmet expectations.
We pour over all of the information we can find online and fantasize about these cars every waking hour. We obsess over details and options. When something seems amiss, it’s easy to become bitter and reactive. We should all take a step back and breathe. Let’s accept some realistic expectations regarding these cars – and all cars for that matter. Now barring any discussion on specific defects in the drivetrain, I’ll go on.
I have a 2014 and this car doesn't like to be rammed into any gear at high RPMs. Even if it begged for it, I wouldn't treat my car that way. When I first started driving this car, I had some issues with my timing of my clutch engagement and shifting; this was causing some sticky shifts and lockouts. This is a finicky car and the relationship between the motor's RPMs, the clutch's engagement point (floor it), and the shifter's gating needs to be learned.
I have had over 12 manual vehicles from a current 2007 S2000, 3 various Accords, 2 high powered MR2s, Tbird Turbocoupe, etc..all of these cars had their own rhythms to learn and this GT is no exception. My MR2s would kick the stick out of gear from time to time; my Accords would grind gears, almost operating as though there was an absence of synchros. My S2000 was THE MOST precise and well thought out driver’s car I’ve had the pleasure of owning – the clutch’s throw was short and sweet; the shift linkage was uber tight and direct; everything about the car screamed feedback. Even this car had its Achilles’ heel. Sometimes it wouldn’t go into gear at high RPM. Sometimes it would grind. On top of all this, the gearbox was as fragile as glass. The engineering team had to design a “soft start” mechanism, so dumping the clutch out of a dig wouldn’t cause driveline shock-induced failure.
This is a machine. It is imprecise and clunky – always has been/always will be. The best advice I can give you about having an issue free driving experience with the MT-82 is the same advice I give anyone learning how to drive a stick shifter; learn to drive and shift slow before you rush in. I’m now able to shift issue free at 6K RPMs, where before this was not possible. Keep the clutch pedal on the floor as you move the shifter and let the centering spring guide the shifter into 3rd. Learn a slow rhythm first.

Frank - are you / have you done a shifter or support bracket upgrade yet?
Edit...just saw your post about ordering the Steeda bracket.

One thing I've found that I was doing wrong was trying to push up and over coming from second into third. You just push straight up and it will go right in. The stock shifter has centering springs and will find 3rd and 4th for you. And I have found that you really can't slam the gears either.
