What about water/snow build up in that area? Will it affect it over time?

He lives in Florida so all he has to worry about is water. If it's snowing in Florida, we've got bigger problems!

I'm tryin to buy some spare keys/fobs on Amazon. How do I know if the key will be compatible?

Will any "Ford" key work? Like ones that are for the Explorer, etc?

I've only bought model specific ones off ebay. If in doubt be sure to contact seller first with your question before purchase. Helps to have record in case you have to return.

I was only cheated once where the guy lied about the year. Key looked the same but along the way Chrysler changed transponder chips. (I had not emailed ahead of time.) Since I already had it cut (which is the only way to find out it would not program) the piece of **** liar would not take it back.
Only out $10 but I hate liar theives.

I kind of like the keypad idea...wonder if it would fit on the inside of the gas cap on the Mustang...

Someone in another thread said no it won't fit because of the capless system.

I got a "chipless" key made at the dealer the day I picked up the car ('13 V6). Because 95% of the time, for me, I've left the key somewhere in the car, so it's not lost and I just need to get in. Cost $10.

Be wary: I was told that if I tried to start the car with the chipless/regular-style key, the car would be immobilised and the only cure would be a tow to a dealer...

Yeah, don't need to worry about snow . The rain drains out where the wiper shaft comes through.

I snowed here about 3 years ago. A whopping 1/4 inch maybe!

Obtain a new key and the car must be programmed by the dealer. Talk to your local dealer first. I had to do exactly the same thing and had to drag it. It turns out that it is useless to buy keys from ebay for cutting because they are too wide to cut properly. After getting the new key, I hung an item finder on the key.

I have an Audi-Style flip key for my Mustang that I bought on ebay.
I don't remember the exact price but it was between $30-$50.
