I don't think Guantanamo is your biggest concern. You should worry MUCH more if they send you to Ramp 51. I hear nothing leaves there.

Their engineers, assembly line workers and some corporate employees lurk on forums and go to some off-roading events... on occasion they will post on forums about part/commodities shortages.
Was this at the launch of each of those specific vehicles when there was communication about shortages?

There are several youtube videos with different 2011 Mustang GT 5.0's on the dyno and they typically show the baseline stock rwhp. All have been at least 365 rwhp. Thus, I think it's unlikely that delivered 5.0's are suddenly putting out only 250 rwhp.

Most of the posts on this thread are jokes. I've seen enough of his (RedCandy's) other posts to know he was joking. Unlike the other jokes that were so far-fetched to be easily laughable, RedCandy's was somewhat believable especially considering that problem actually happened with the '99 Cobras. But in case visitors to the site didn't know he was joking, I went ahead and put the links up

Yes in 2002, just prior to chassis rolling down the assembly line. Not enough 4:1 t-case were initially available. Expected to build 4k+ Rubicon units, received over 12k+ orders. Some customers were notified they would continue building units (next MY). Jeep was overwhelmed w/ orders for those vehicles drivetrains to the point they continued producing what was supposed to be a limited edition...

2003 the Unlimited launch was postponed (annouced in print media) w/o exact details, but mentioned. Lauched as a 2004 1/2... Early order customers were warned of up to 6 month delay.

2006, a 4 door Wrangler was created and sales exploded... Customers ordering certain items were notified of part shortages.

Now for 2010, hardtops were scarse do to change of supplier/bankruptcy backlash.

In short, Jeep and their customer base communicate (lot less since the bailout)
There is bit more, but I would likely bore you with it all....

Now is Jeep perfect... no, but they try to keep their fans/customers in the loop when ordering/purchasing. They don't want to lose any ground to Toyota (FJ Cruiser) or the now defunct Hummer (H3)

Good news that no updates doesn't necessarily mean no car. Also, wise of you not to strap in behind a 5.0 with anything in your system.

Dont put too much into what the Ford reps are saying about delays. On 5/25 one
called me and said 6/20 for a hold....the car showed up at my dealer the next day.
Couldnt be happier with the car. clutch, motor, all seems to be working fine. The manual
trans is almost to good...I keep trying to drive it like the 4speed toploader in my 70 cougar.
The candy red GT/CS vert sure turns heads while driving it.

My dealer said the same thing happened with a group of stock orders they had. There were no status changes, and then the cars just showed up unexpectedly over the holiday weekend.

More info/rumor on the hold

Take it with a grain of salt. Or the whole shaker.

Just spoke with my sales guy who refuses to call me back (occasionally he answers his phone).

He said the regional rep said that my car was on hold because it had a "common component" with the GT that was on hold and that ALL GT's had it (at least the ones that were produced and on hold.)

He could not tell me WHICH component or when the hold would be released.

I'm tired of this nonsense. I told him to get me a concrete answer on the problem or a REAL ETA for delivery or get me a check for $500. Deadline is end of next week.

So WHAT component of MY build is the same as on ALL GTs??? I'm simply at a loss for that one. Check my sig for my config.

So I follow up with Ford CS since I couldn't get through yesterday.

Same old excitement about my car, etc. But then said, "You ordered a GT?" Um, no. (long pause) "Well, I don't know then." (Again)

CSR said she'd escalate my issue since it's not the 5.0 hold and it could take up to 5 business days to get back to me (again... on top of the 5 they've spent on my last escalation and didn't call me back.)

I apologized to the CSR before going off and telling her how poorly I thought Ford was treating its paying customers and that all I really needed to stay a satisfied customer was either a real delivery estimate/date or the reason the cars being held that's not "final inspection" or "quality check".

Sorry, I'm venting. This is simply ridiculous.

Ok, this is an honest question so don't get offended.

Why start a new thread for this as opposed posting it in one of the 1,000,000 other 'hold' threads?

That's not all GTs. And it would be V6 M/T too. I was going to say 3.31s, but not all GTs have 3.31s either. So who fricken knows.

You're not totally off board... I call the SVT number and didn't get much othat than it's back from being off-site and he thinks within two weeks...
I called the guy Doug Davidson at Autoport per the thread on Team Shelby... Man is he tired of hearing from us! Told me the car is on quality hold and that's all he can say, and (again) that I need to call my dealer who should press the "area sales manager" who has the "confidential papers" regarding the hold.
I'm now working on my second payment on my GT past where I planned to, and haven't driven the car more than 20 miles in two months because I don't want to build mileage before trade-in. I don't care how long the wait is if I only had an accurate date so I could properly plan my finances and driving habits in the mean time.
I got my loan app extended to June 20th (my brithday of all days). Then I will have to do a complete reapply or sign the loan and begin interest and payments for a car I don't yet own and continue to pay my existing GT which I really can't drive.
