Let me ask you this, has any of this calling Ford CS, posting threads, etc. made waiting any easier?

you guys can complain all you want. Ford is doing what is best for them. You can't fault them for that. They're a business that needs good press to survive. If they start publicly announcing problems on cars that aren't even out the factory yet that would be a huge mistake IMO.

I'm glad they're holding cars instead of releasing them pre-maturely. And I'm glad they're not sayin exactly whats wrong either. Now while some here might find the info useful, the vast majority of people would freak out and it would hurt sales no doubt

This is exactly why I'm not as frustrated as most of the guys in 10+ section

 

My biggest gripe is not the HOLD or lack of communication from Ford but that preordering a car seems to mean nothing. I remember when the Camaro returned, the loyal fans cars we're being delivered daily, while regular shoppers/bandwagon potential owners we're being quoted 6to8 weeks and dealer stock was like 1per dealer.

Our turn around, Galpin Ford has nine GT's in stock, Montebello has a RaceRed Gt/Cs that was built on the same day as mine and its been stock for over a week, my Dealer has 3 with another 5 at its sister dealership. Don't even get me started on amount the 3.7's the dealers have.

Ford is willing to boast in Press Releases about 11,000 preorders in 3months, since the Mags got up reviews and the Ad campaign is already on, I guess Dealer stock is more important than the core customer.

That's how much I love Mustangs, I should be enjoying no car payment, single-car insurance on a 85 Mustang and better mpg with my loaner car but its actually the opposite, I can't wait to start paying for that 2011 Gt.

 

Cannot verify the validity but one of the insiders on my side of the fence also said his insider said it was something with the 5.0. That's alot of insider inside talk but hey it's matches other rumors so .

In 2000 i had to wait an extra 8 weeks for my GT vert due to its color (Performance Red, which IMHO was BS) Car didnt get to my dealer till first week of July

I don't expect it to happen but it would be a nice courtesy if Ford would extend the 0% 36 month financing into July for the people whose car was built in April but hasn't been delivered yet. It would cost them some money but would probably ease a fair amount of disgruntlement among it's customers.

 

They really should make it so you get all the same offers as when you ordered the car, that way people don't get pisssssssed.

 

I just got off the phone with Ford CS and they told me there is no hold on my car and it is still due to arrive next week.

 

Did the voice sound like a barely post-teen years female, and did she tell how cool she thought a Mustang GT was? I'll bet she thought Race Red/Kona Blue/Grabber Blue/Performance White/Black/ Candy Red/Sterling/Silver was the coolest color, too.

I accept your nomination. While you are driving one of your bikes or your nice F-150, think about me commuting in a stripped down Focus with roll up windows. My car is at Ramp 51 with the rest, and it looks like it's going to be there for a long time. The wait sucks, but getting upset about it won't make it any shorter for me. I choose to look at it this way: waiting for my car now is far better than having something go horribly wrong later.

If the wait is truly bothering you to the point where you have stopped looking forward to getting your car, then you should cancel your order. There is no use in spending money on something that doesn't make you happy.

 

I really wanted a new 5.0 convertible, but if the Challenger was available in a convertible, I'd be driving one now....ever since my 5/4 ETA passed.

 

The real reason they don't want to release them all right away, is the fear of mass panic and hysteria by owners of competing cars and the threat of massive depression and possible suicide...

 

I don't know, I wouldn't recommend this. Sometimes emotions can flare up and get you so frustrated you feel like you don't care any more. I'm so frustrated right now I often get headaches from over-thinking about the car. I am a very obsessive and impatient person, but I'm not going to back out and try and settle on a stock unit. I know that the second I turn that key in the car built for me, all the excitement and love for the car I had when I first saw her at the auto show will be back.

 

I can vouch for the TiVCT. It works great! ...and my 2011 GT is no press car (picked it up personally at the rail yard). Hang in there corvettedreamin.

 

Almost 1,500 miles on mine and, so far, it's flawless. Absolutely flawless (and no weird noises either).

 

I ordered a GT non-Premium with Brembos/3.73 around March 25th, and it's had an ETA of April 23rd since... well, around April 23rd. On the one hand, I can't fault them for holding the cars if there's a quality issue, but I do expect some kind of notification from them that at least indicates that they haven't just forgotten about my car on a backlot somewhere. My dealings with their customer service have been frustrating at best; after requesting that somebody look into it after the sixth week of inactivity, a lady called me back and told me that it was going to be ten weeks from now that I'd finally get the car (which would be a total of approximately twenty weeks since I ordered it). I inquired further, and she told me that she'd called my dealer to get that information. I called the dealer who said they had no idea where she got that idea, so... I'm not exactly sure why this customer service representative hoped to get out of calling the dealership in the first place, but whatever transpired there was some kind of miscommunication.

I definitely didn't order the car just so that I could have a vague ongoing promise of owning it someday. At this point I can wait indefinitely, or I can drive a few miles down the road and get a standard 2011 GT Premium right off the lot that's not exactly what I wanted but would have the incalculable advantage of actually being in my possession. Or I could just get a dirt cheap 2010. Or I could go buy a 370Z.

In any case, with the level of info that Ford's providing me, it's making it really hard for me to justify sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

 

Really? That sounds awful. I think about my car often, but it never gets to the point where I am obsessing over it or giving myself headaches. Although I expect my car to be absolutely kick-@$$, the big picture is that it IS just a car. While I wait, I'm having fun reading this forum, planning modifications, and seeing others get their cars. I get weekly updates from my dealer. Even though the updates have been the same the past few weeks, it is nice to know they haven't forgotten me. Plus, I'll admit that having my name in the options list on the window sticker has made it easier to wait for "my" car. When my wait is over, I will have an impressive set of documentation on this car.

If the wait is really bothering you to the point of headaches, then you should re-examine whether it's worth it to you.

 

Its not JUST a car. Its a Mustang and I can remember these frustrating times, the wait, the agony of trying to pick a color etc. Hopefully they deal with the hold rapidly and you get your car. Good things come to those that wait.

 

Well, after more than 6 weeks without a VIN, I went to my dealer this monring to get the dealer number and my order number to call Ford CS.

Guess what, after being on the phone with CS for almost an hour, no one seems to know anything about my car. No VIN, no confirmation of the order having been received, nothing.

So I am supposed to get a called from the factory rep today, and customer care no later than Monday.

Pretty crappy service if you ask me.

 

Eh, ADHD fueled obsession frenzies are a part of my life. Usually pretty easy to control but this one is particularly bad because usually I get it out of my system within a month. Instead I went through obsessive research starting in December till I ordered my car meticulously how I wanted it in Feb. Then March hit and all the details and reviews started coming out and I was glued to any updates I could find. Then April my car gets built and since then I've been unable to get any information about a solid day it will come. This makes it hard for me to just forget about it until it arrives because in my mind it could be here tomorrow, every day.

I know it sounds like I'm out of my mind, but I am a bit. Intense ADHD is tough to live with.

No kidding. This is the symbol of my independence from my parents and my hard work through school to get a kickass job developing software for the navy. Time for some fun.
