My dealer and others have told me drive like you will want to always drive for the 1st 300 miles the ECU Learns from your driving habits.. So i guess your ECU will think you drive timid.. I have been driving my new car the way I plan on driving it. So if it breaks it will be in the warranty time frame.

The 2011 manual said no extended WOT for the first 100 miles. No towing trailers, no cruise control and vary your rpms for the first 1000 miles.
Unless the 13's manual has changed, go drive your freaking car and don't be scared.
I took mine up to redline atleast a dozen times with in the first 200 miles. I broke mine in hard/moderate. I have no troubles, burn no oil, and the car runs like a scalded ape.

In fact the best way to set the rings is to take the car up past 6k rpm's and let off the accelerator and let the engine slow the car down. The compression helps set the rings. However, this should have been done withing the first 50 miles.

Car will have to be run for at least 20miles to relearn your driving.
This is when you need to take the car thorugh the complete range of rpms.
The question here is the mechanical metal on metal wear during the breakin period.
But for the first 100miles...not hammering down is a good idea.
After that you should give it a little now and then.
Those horses need to stretch their legs.
