Check this out for a great spare idea

This was for a GT with hard to fit brembos but the idea will work with the V6 as well.

You can likely get a spare and wrench from a junkyard. look on fleabay for yards that are selling parts off new totalled mustangs. Although they may not list the spare, it's probably still in the car.

I searched all the local junkyards in the southeastern United States. They are computered connected, no spares to be found. When my jack, lug wrench and wheel came in, no spare tire was on the wheel . My dealer had to order the spare tire from Canada.

Skip the Temp Spare, get a real tire

I bought a 2011 Mustang and, of course, it didn't have a spare. I did a little work and bought a real tire a wheel, jack and wrench. You'll need a 17 X 7 rim with a 4.5" (114.3 mm) bolt pattern. I put a 205-45R17 tire on it. This will fit nicely in the trunk wheel well. A slightly larger tire might fit if you can find one. You'll probably have to also buy 5 spline type lug nuts which comes with the adapter. Most nice rims have very small lug holes and the Mustang acorn nuts will no way fit. I tried a lot of Ford jacks and found that my 2001 Taurus jack works just fine. I bought another one on Ebay for $15 and it will fit under the rim and has the handle attached. I also bought a Gorilla lug wrench which includes a double socket that works with everything. One note of caution: even though you could run the spare on the road for a long distance, I wouldn't recommend leaving it on the rear. The size difference may damage the differential. But you can always put it on the front. I probably have $200 in the whole "kit".

From my sig: (1) 17" Silver Maxxim Skill Wheel, (1) P215/55VR17 Mastercraft Spare Tire, (1) Jack, (1) Lug Wrench, Wheel Locks

All for under $250.00

Bought the wheel and tire from Kauffman Tire. The wheel is on sale for $69.00. The tire fits EXACTLY right in the trunk and is only about an inch shorter than my 18" wheels. Picked up a scissor jack and lug wrench from Advance Auto Parts. Layed the wheel flat on its face. Yes it will get marked up, but it's just a spare. Layed the small 4-way lug wrench in it and the jack on top. Took out the round metal plate and the screw handle from the styrofoam that holds the inflator in the trunk and bolted it all down on the J-hook so it doesn't rattle.
