State farm isn't covering your aftermarket?

Im on state farm, my 2009 GT/CS was sandwiched 2 months back, they ended up adding in the cost of my aftermarket parts, and let me switch my wheels back to stock as well.

Glad to see that you ok with a crash as bad as that looks, ****. Mine wasnt that bad, but i wasnt wearing a seatbelt so it scared the crap out of me haha

3 option. Take their insurance, and the driver to small claims court in your city. You will be amazed how quick their insurance company will pony up the money for the mods on your car.

I watched an older Explorer fishtail and roll 4 times in the median a couple years ago. Top heavy SUVs are danger to all of us on the road.

I just got off the phone with AAA Auto Insurance (other vehicle owners policy) filling a claim with them (my insurance company told me to do that to see what they would pay out for total loss on my 2012 Gt.
Now I have to start the process all over gain. ugh, Dont know if I can wait any longer, I want to get back in a new car now!!!

I still can't figure out why YOU are calling the other guys insurance company?? Isn't that part of the job for YOUR insurance company?! That's what you are paying them for!

Just got off with my total loss claims rep again and they are ready to pay out just over 31000 for my car, after my note is paid off I would have 6600 to put down on a new Gt. Now this just gets me smoken mad, They aren't even including my aftermarket parts in the equation.

They are going off of NADA's price for a used Base GT with 9800 miles with leather, power seats and shaker audio, NADA doesnt list any more options, and mine was a Premium that had other options from the factory including Rear parking sensors and 19" Premium Wheels. The rep was trying to configure my car like a california special but Im still not happy with the outcome.
Hell, Kelly Blue Book says my car is worth 31.305 as a Gt Premium with my included factory options. And that doesnt include my aftermarket parts either.

I will be calling my agent in the morning and give him what for, I have been with State Farm for over 25 years, I have my house insured through them, had my Chopper insured through them and I have 2 cars insured through them and they are doing this to me.

Talk about an inconvenience, DONT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT EVEN IF YOU ARENT AT FAULT

I don't know how it works for after market parts. Seems like you would need to provide a list for a rider of some sort ahead of time.

As for factory packages that def should be covered. Can you show them your window sticker? Although they prob see it with the VIN.

They have the vin but NADA still doesnt consider it a Premium or show any other availbale options, As far as the aftermarket parts I did send them a list and reciepts for all my parts.
They asked me to fax them a copy of my window sticker so I guess I have to do that now also. Pay for that service as well again.

Do you have a scanner? There is a web site called fax free. I think that's the name, that lets you fax any document for free.

I am absolutely disgusted when I have to fax something. It's utterly ridiculous that fax machines still exist in major companies like this. 95% of people who have a cell phone, have a camera that has a higher resolution than any average scanner/fax machine. You should be able to email a jpg/pdf to them.

I agree 100%. Hell, State farm has a spot to upload documents and I have tried to do that several times but it doesnt work. That would be the preferred route for me to take.

Honestly I think we've become too dependent on technology and our phones, but this is one instance where there's absolutely no reason we should still have to fax things. I mean we should definitely keep then in case there are older people who don't have a computer or a smart phone (or in case the satellites get knocked out and we need to use phone lines again), but in this technology age, it should be last resort - not required!

I would not accept their offer... I know the process is painful and long but you have to stand your ground. I had the same issue with State farm and I proved to them that the higher trim level (package) costs upward of $2000 on a new car and does not depreciate as much. Since I could not provide any links to similar cars for sale in the market, I had them call my dealar so he could explain them the diff in packages and how they help with resale. I ended up getting $2K more than their final offer.. Good luck!

Glad you're ok. I got T-boned in my Boxster S that had a lot of options also. I had the same initial problems that you did but cleared them up and received a fair settlement by being nice and persistant.

You need to go up the chain to a supervisor above whomever you are dealing with. My wife worked at State Farms Claims and says that the best settlements were always won by the people who were polite but persistant.

it is their job to make this right for you. That's what you've been paying all those premiums for. Talk to the main supervisor and politely remind them how long you have been a customer and how much property you have insured with them. Gently remind them that if you cannot trust them to work with you on a fair settlement on this, how can they expect you to remain a customer.

Oh and just sayin....
