The ABF driver stayed on the scene the entire time sitting in his truck. When I was in the ER room the state trooper that covered the accident came in and asked me what happened, I explained everything to him and then he left my room to talk to the driver of the Durango. About an hour later he came back to my room and told me the truck driver described the accident exactly the way I did. I asked who was cited and he said the driver of the Durango was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
I wish I could have thanked him but I never got his name or anything.
Now its a waiting game with the insurance companies sorting this out. I still have to get a rental to drive until this is all sorted out.

What possesed that driver to dart out onto a 4 lane divided highway like that. I mean come on show some comon sense.

That Mustang was one fine looking car. I am sure you will miss it. A 2014 Mustang should make you feel much better. Good to hear the Mustang had good safety features to allow you to walk away with so few injuries.

Ouch. Kona seems like the bad luck color of the year! As everyone has said, glad to hear you made it out okay. Also, be sure to get therapy for your neck and back. Don't wait on it. I was t-boned in my SN95 in 2009 and didn't really do anything beyond a checkup after the accident because I felt fine. Months down the road, I still feel like my back is tweaked from the twisting motion. I had a strut tower brace and welded in subframe connectors, that I feel contributed to my car not being totaled; I also believe the car was stiffened to the point that it transferred the shock to the cabin, versus absorbing it. I was 2 weeks away from graduating college and also in the application process with the CHP though, so I didn't have time to baby minor injuries. I'd say I'm 98% okay now, but every now and then I twist my back and I get a pain that I got after that accident.

Wow, she's a mess, but at least she protected you enough to walk away!

Hope the insurance sees you in a '14 ASAP.

Oh, and hopefully you might be able to trace the truck driver through the trucking company. A phonecall to the transport manager would be in order, as it sounds like the driver deserves a handshake for stopping

Enjoy your new car. Keep us posted on how everything is going . Cars can be replaced every day. Just a hassle . You're OK is the main thing.

Glad you are alright except for being a little sore.
Also, the driver from the truck name should be in his report. I would think he would say no Biggie, but it is still nice to hear the Thank you.

A 2014 should see you to a nice full recovery.

I would make sure you get yourself completely checked out. That was a major impact.

I just got off the phone with the body shop that put all the modifications on my car and they called State Farm to get information on the status of the car.
They were told by my insurance company that from the way it sounded now it looks like my car is going to be a total loss. State Farm still has to have the vehicle towed to their storage facility and they still have to go over the vehicle to determine if its repairable or not. Basically having it towed to their facility is just to stop the daily fee for it being at the towing yard that it was towed to.
I will be picking up my rental car from the repair shop and I will show them pictures of the car.

When the bodyshop manager found out about my car he said to his receptionist "Oh My God He (meaning me) has got to be pissed, all the work we did to that car and now its totaled" well he is absolutely right.
That car was my pride and joy, the child I never had, it gave me pleasure driving it.
Yea I can get another one and I probably will but it wont ever be the same.
I praise God that I wasn't injured any more than I was. I hit that vehicle so hard I literally thought I was gonna die, then reality set in and I got out of the vehicle as fast as I could. The stench of something burning is what made me get out of the vehicle. I still cant believe I was able to open the door.
This is a total inconvenience to me, I lost 2 days of work so far because of someones careless driving and now I have to wait to find out if my car will be totaled before I can start looking for a new one.

The burning smell was probably from the airbags. It's a nasty smell! I wonder if manufacturers purposely use whatever nasty chemical that is, to "wake" people out of shock from the accident. Seems to have worked that way here. But again, sucks to hear all of that man. At least you got your TMS brothers and sisters here to support you during this crappy event!

I am glad you are ok, I have seen a few Mustang related accidents and I can say everyone I have known has walked away. I can't say that if you were in a Foreign car from the east that you could say that. Like others have stated you can always get another newer one. I also can say if it was me it only solidifies why I love these cars.

WOW! Glad you made it out ok.. take the advice posted on here and get in for some physical therapy for your back. It will help in the long run... Also, depending on your policy, your insurance company should be reimbursing you for the days missed at work. Good luck with the insurance related work...

Wow I just added up all the aftermarket parts I added to the car and the total comes to over $3000.00. Installed on the car at the Body Shop were

California Front Lower Fascia
Roush 7 Bar Billet Grill
Steeda Cold Air Kit/ Bama tuner
OE GT500 Rear Spoiler (Painted by my body shop)
GT/CS Side Scoops (Painted by my body shop)
CDC Type 2 Window Scoops (Painted by my body shop)

I also had 35% window tint all the way around. Plus the sticker on the car was $36,990
According to Kelly Blue Book (I now they wont go off them) the car was still worth over $30,000

Did you get any pictures of the Durango? Curious how it fared, and get a better idea of how the wreck happened.
