I walked away believe it or not
Well on my way to work Friday I was involved in a very bad accident. I was traveling northbound in the inside lane approaching an intersection and a small white vehicle darted across the other side following that vehicle was a Silver Dodge Durango. Well the white care made it across the highway I was traveling on, then the Durango pulls onto the highway heading north also. Mind you the roads are wet and its a 55mph 4 lane devided highway with a grassy median between north and south bound lanes.
As the Durango turned left onto the highway in the outside lane she lost control of her vehicle and it started to fishtail crossing over into my lane faceing the center median. There was no room for me to change lanes as there was an ABF Semi next to me a little bit behind me in the outside lane. Anyways I hit the brakes and start to swerve to avoid the collision but the driver of the Durango was already blocking both lanes at the time so I slammed into the rear drivers side.
All I can remember from the accident was pulling to the side of the highway and smelling a horible stench like my car was on fire.
I luckly was able to open the door and get out.
Police came and ambulances transported me to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Durango was cited for failing to yield the right-away
As for damage to my vehicle, well the engine block was cracked everything was pushed into the firewall, trans fluid and oil all over the highway. The car has to be totalled but I have to wait for the adjuster to look at it.
Herer's photos of the car after the accident and 1 the way it sat before the accident, I purchased the car new in March of this year

Man, that looks horrific. Always hate seeing this but they can be replaced. Glad to hear you are ok. I wouldn't do to much for the next couple days to make sure you are ok.

Thank god you're okay after that one! It looks like your pony did what it was designed to do, letting you walk away. Hopefully you'll be back in another stang really soon.

I have pain and discomfort in my lower back and my rib cage is sore from the seatbelt. I was given Motron 800 and Flexeril but neither is working very good, I plan to try and get in to see my family about it tomorrow.

Looks bad...but the car did was it was supposed to do - everything from the firewall forward crumpled and absorbed the majority of the impact and protecting you. Glad you're ok!

OUCH! Another Kona Blue down. As stated, she did her job and helped protect you. Keep up with your Doctor's visits, and make sure you have good reports on them. Don't ignore symptoms that may come up in the future, either! Best Wishes on a full recovery for you!
Good Luck with the new car search.

I'm glad you are ok - it's another reason we as mustang owners need to drive more defensive than offensive. Hate to say it but most drivers on the road are only half there. I think most of us on TMS are more conscious of what we're doing and where we're going. I've seen too often someone being an idiot on the road and if I hadn't been paying attention (and had a way out) I'd be where you are now. So so SO sorry for your accident. I showed my wife the pics and she doesn't want to look. She's already worried for me with 420 HP (so am I) - We all need to be careful.
Again, glad you are ok, and so very sorry for your accident.

Its great to hear that you made it out safely
I completely agree with this statement entirely, especially the last portion. I'm very grateful for how safe ford made these cars.
