Sorry, read it again. I must have still been thinking 5 lbs. not 50.
A little more conservative rule of thumb is 100 lbs = 1/10. Either way, not much of a performance advantage on the street to be worth the risk of being stranded, for most.

I agree with you too, but 'Ford' thought it was important enough to leave the spare tire deleted on the V-6. Why? cost, less weight for better gas mileage. I don't know LOL!!!

Yes and yes. Win/win for Ford.
Manufacturers are subject to fleetwide mileage averages (CAFE ratings) and while that .1 MPG might not make a difference to most of us, for a company like Ford it makes a lot of difference.
Notice that with the V6 commercials the emphasis is less about the HP and more on the MPG.
