Ford K Spring rate vs Steeda Competition spring rate???

Folks...searching did really give me the answers I was looking for. Why aren't these specs published publicly so they're easy to find? The steedas are:

185 lb/in rear
225 lb/in front

Anyone know what the ford k springs are rated at? I wanted to compare the two. Am contemplating steeda springs.

lol yea it seems like you keep piecing it together. Just redone all of the suspension parts at once. Springs, shocks/struts, mounts and maybe sways depending on what your going for or just do coilovers like Diva suggest.

From AmericanMuscle website (assuming they are correct):

K-springs
Front: 228 lb/in.
Rear: 199.5 lb/in.

Just in research phase right now. Am just getting tired of the k springs. Whatever I do has to be the best blend of cost and benefit.

That can't be right (not doubting you, but the data). Because that would mean that Ford K springs are stiffer than steeda competition? No way.

the K-Springs ARE known to be one of the stiffer spring sets out there.

you have what 4k miles on the car? how are you "tired" of them?

Interesting... I thought they were one of the softest.

TJ thank you for the info. Would you happen to know/confirm the ford K spring rates compared to yours?

If I'm not mistaken, your competition springs are linear, correct? While the K springs are progressive? From my research, progressive springs are supposed to require less force to compress the initial travel, and then require more and more to compress it fully, until the full spring rate is reached?

So assuming the K spring is progressive at 199 lb/in, it might take 100lb/in (guess) to compress the first inch, then maybe 150lb/in then next inch and so forth, until the full 199lb/in is reached at full compression.

While the steeda springs require 195lb/in throughout the WHOLE compression process. Right?

Therefore, wouldn't it be fair to state that though your springs are "softer" by 4lb/in, you're actually "stiffer" than the k springs because you require a full 195lb/in to compress it from beginning (initial) to the end???

incorrect assumption on the progressives, but not entirely.

If a single number is given for a progressive, it's an average. they will be lighter, then hit that middle average number, and then be even stiffer past that point. if it's given two numbers, then you know the low and high end stiffness of them.

linear of course is the same stiffness all around.

progressive is great for the street and light track work for that reason. linear for a racer would be best as calculating rates and changes needed would be easier.
