Well, I called Ford again and had an unusually long hold time of about 12 minutes (would you people PLEASE quit calling when I'm trying to get through!?!?!)
Good news: The car was built on time -- 5/4/2010.
OK news: The car is "in transit" (???) with a NEW ETA of 5/15 (was 5/8.)
Ten days to go from Detroit to NoVA? I can do it in 8 hours. Yes, yes, I know but still.
Absolutely nothing bad at all. Just getting excited to get this new toy.

i just called the 800# and was told the car was built 5/04 like the sticker says and the ETA is 5/15
he couldn't verify whether 5/15 was at the dealer or a rail drop off point, just that it was an ETA

I haven't asked the dealer yet. I figured I'd give it a week and then ask.

Anybody else think the ETA dates are just created by a random number generator? Maybe it's just a chimpanzee throwing darts at a calendar.
Since I don't have the car yet, I'm just comforting myself by thinking about what that Coyote's going to sound like at full howl. Which just gave me a totally off-topic idea. How many future owners of these cars have already programmed their cell phone with a howling coyote ring tone?

You're not kidding, Jerry. I'm sure my co-workers wonder why sometimes I'm walking around with a grin like "Smiling Bob" from the old Viagra commercials. I'm fantasizing about running my new GT through the gears on a winding country road.

What I heard is that the scheduling is a batch job run on Wednesday evening/night, and it takes a while to permeate through the system (I expect the job may take hours to run) and it schedules another week of building based on part availability, priority, allocation, and blend numbers. From what I hear, you can potentially expect an update on scheduling/VINs by Thursday afternoon or Friday. I personally call once a week on Friday mornings, so tomorrow I'm hoping to hear a build date.

My ETA went from 4/17 to 4/23 to no ETA at all.
The cars has been built since 4/13 and that is all I know.
So for three and a half weeks it has been sitting somewhere for god knows what reason.
Personally I think that is too long, the car should have been here by now, but maybe that is just me.

Yeah, it's actually the CS number on their website. Shocking, I know. No seriously, those numbers and "helpful" don't usually occur in the same sentence.
I had to call them and ask them for the VIN on the order.
