Dropping Oil Pan - 2012 GT Manual Transmission

Hey guys,

Me and my brother are trying to drop the oil pan in his 2012 Mustang GT with a manual transmission. Read tons of posts that said you could do it without removing the K-member by just hoisting the engine up a bit, but we have it up all the way until it hits the firewall and there still isn't enough clearance to pull the oil pan out...so now I'm thinking that maybe those were automatics and the manual transmission sticks down further?

The pan needs another maybe half inch of clearance to slip out. Is it possible to drop the K-member that much without unbolting anything from it (i.e. steering rack, a-arms, etc) just to get that bit of extra clearance for the pan?

Once the motor mount bolts are removed you can drop the K-member as a whole. You need to remove the front plastic splash shield and the radiator support to K-member brace. You than need to unplug the the steering rack(make sure battery is disconnected first), the ball joints from the knuckles and the K-member bolts. Make sure it is supported before removing the bolts. You can leave the control arms on the K-member. Maximum Motorsports has a decent write up in the installation instructions for their K-member.
