2012 Mustang V6 – Is my oil overfilled ?

Hello Everybody,

First off I would like to say that I really enjoy reading this forum. I have been reading it for about 1 year now.

I own a 2012 Mustang V6. The car is about 7 months old. Today I went to the dealer to have the oil changed. They did not have the Ford brand full synthetic oil, so they put Mobil 1 – this is the car’s first oil change.

When I got home I looked at the dip stick and I noticed:

The stick has the lower hole and the upper hole. The manual states oil should not go over the upper hole. My oil level ends where the upper hole begins, it is right at maximum. It is defiantly between the wholes (I have been checking if for a while, I wiped the dip-stick and waited about 3 hours for the engine to cool down).

Before I went to the dealer (while that car still had the original factory oil) I checked the stick and the oil was at the upper limit of the graded/ shaded area between the wholes, but not at the limit where the second whole begins.

Is this considered overfilling (having oil between the whole but ending right before the maximum mark)? Does it matter – it is between the wholes, just at max.

Thank you, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Anywhere between the holes, as stated in the manual.

Its "hole" *cough cough*

And I keep my car 1 quart over full and I have no issues. I use 8-9 quarts in my 97
