chazcron takes the bra off
I used to be all about the 427 Concept's satin aluminum 3 bar grille with the radiused bends in the ends until Ford bastardized it on the Fusion making it chrome and creasing the bars like origami on the ends instead of a gentle radius... It all went to hell went the Edge, Taurus and Taurus X adapted the three bar look. Now it's going to get really bad with the next Fusion update.
I really like the Shelby bumper covers installed with the straight across front hood edge... Too bad the 2010 wont retain that along with the turn signal lamps in the bumper...

Chaz, sorry bud, i saw the c/t opportunity and I had to take it.

Concerning the new Camaro, there are some sweet details and proportions of the classic one that got lost in the creation of the new one.
I think Dodge did a good job translation the original design to a new one but something about the proportions bothers me as if they had to stretch it and skew it to make it fit the donor platform. The interior of the Dodge is a disaster. There is so much more they could have done to make it look special without making it look like one of thier minivans donated the dashboard...

Although I like the overall retro styling of the exterior, I really don't care for the huge high waisted beltline. To me, the body just visually looks way too tall, and IMO also makes the roofline appear way too low. As though somebody chopped it.
When a 2008 Challenger SRT8 parked right beside me, I couldn't believe how much taller it stood over my Mustang. Needless to say, I no longer think of my Stang as being such a huge car anymore

[quote=red454;5607558]If you look at this pic:

you can see how the headlight bucket is shaped - particularly the angle that the fender follows as it borders the side of the headlight. Similar to the current S197
gave it a shot to see what that may look like.

Excuse my astounding ignorance, but are you these aftermarket hoods specifically made to go with the GT500 nose or can the regular mustang hood be used? I thought the two wouldn't work together.
The non-GT500 hoods factory standard or custom hood work fine. That's what everyone is using in the pictures shown. The GT500 hood bows the center of the hood and grille opening upwards. I hate the bow upward when it looks better straight across. Not even the classic Mustangs 1967-79 had a bow upward even though the grille openings were higher and wider, they were radiused at the top corners and straight across the top.
Actually both the '65 - '66 and '67 - '68 hoods bowed up in the middle. That's the easiest way to tell if a car had been hit in the front. For some reason a lot of auto body shops think it should be straight across.

The newer Shelby GT500 has a significantly bowed up center which is carved into the front edge of the grille which is much higher than the top of the headlamps. The bulbous dome in the hood with no crisp lines and less level surfaces looks over inflated...
So I like this flat, linear straight edge look much better...
its called....voluptious....but again...its all in taste and what you like...I like the curvey ones.
Okay was was a little TOO literal saying the top of the grille opening on classic Mustangs was straight across. There is only a very slight bow upwards but still the emphasis is on a wide, nearly straighter across linear look with a much flatter hood center section.

Seems that it looks a lot like the '65 hood, no?
And since I've liked and been driving Mustangs for 32 years, the '67 hood bows up much more than the '65. In fact, it looks a lot like the new Shelby GT500:
I will admit there is a little lens effect there. But this one shows the same thing I think:
By the way, this is what you get when the auto body guy tries to do a "straight" hood, looks a lot like my '67 that I owned back in '77 or so:

I think that the styling change from the 2005+ to the 2010 will be a lot like the change from the '65 to the '67.

Oh no see I am not debating the slight bow necessary to balance out the design. Those classic Mustangs with incorrectly straightened across the hood look horrendous... And it looks obviously wrong...
I also know that even my own Pony has a grille opening that is higher in the center than the ends... It's a matter of visual balance as you compare non-GT500 grille and hood against the GT-500 grille and hood and it's just my opinion that the standard hood with it's straighter (not straight) across leading hood edge looks better.
My main concern was that I did not like the severely bowed up hood and grille opening of the GT500 where it bows way too far up above the headlamps and makes a distinctly visual bubble upward in the center which is even further exaggerated by the domed hood. The 04 Concept car had the look right including the trapazoidal grille opening with the front endge of the hood and top of the grile openng remaining linear... All the classic Mustangs had the look right as well as the newer non-GT500 models.
Another example of a hood and grille opening that I do not like to bow upward is the difference in the hood and grille openings of the Ford Five Hundred/Monteg vs. The newer Taurus/Sable... The new Taurus straightens that across yielding a much better look to me. However, anything they did to that bodystyle was not help enough to make it a pretty car. I'd much rather look a the 427 Concept than a recycled 1998 VW Passat...

Thank god they didn't do it that way.
