I call bullsh!t on your dealer. I placed my order on 5/2, asked my sales person for my order number on 5/4 after she confirmed the order being placed on 5/2. I gave that number and the dealer name to Deysha and she confirmed everything. Deysha is great!

That is a very noticeable in acceleration.

It's frustrating but everyone here says it is well worth the wait and i believe it is.
I was at 16 weeks last Friday. All I know is the car is still sitting in a lot in Michigan and I am now starting 17 weeks with no new ETA.

I cancelled my order on a GT 2012, just like you want to do.....but I choose a Shelby GT500 2011 in the dealer inventory instead, so they made a 20k$ sale increase !

I am in the same situation. My salesman told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks to get my car, today I hit the ten week mark & was just given my VIN# & build week. If you really want a Mustang, be patient.

You should have received a Vehicle Order Confirmation sheet with the order number on it. Also, if your dealer placed your order, they should have an order number by now.

I've driven and am planning on ordering a 2012 Mustang GT for a daily driver soon and I own a 2010 Challenger R/T with the Super Track Pak as a weekend toy. Thus, I feel I'm qualified to speak to the differences between the two cars.

Basically, they're two different vehicles. The Mustang is a pony car while the Challenger/Charger is a muscle car. There's a 500+ pound weight difference, which is substantial and that affects acceleration, handling, and ride quality. The Mustang is faster and handles better while the Challenger/Charger rides better. Still, the Mustang has a good ride while the Challenger/Charger with the Super Track Pak handles very impressively for its size but it is probably .5 to .75 seconds slower than the Mustang 0-60. In the quarter mile, the difference shrinks a bit as the heavier Challenger gets moving, but the Mustang will still win. At the dragstrip, this is a substantial difference, but in daily driving, while noticeable, it's not huge. Both cars are plenty fast.

Both vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses in day to day driving. The Mustang gets better fuel economy, is faster, and is more fun to toss around, but the Challenger's/Charger's Hemi sounds better and has a more comfortable ride. Heavier cars simply ride better. Also, if I had to be in an accident in one, I'd choose the Challenger/Charger, hands down. The Mustang is much easier to park due to its better rearward visibility and smaller size, but the Challenger/Charger has a much bigger trunk and a back seat that can actually accommodate adults comfortably. I do think the Mustang has better paint quality and better exterior fit and finish, while I find the interiors to be equal in terms of quality. Reliability is probably similar, although I'd give the edge to the Dodge because of the Mustang's newer engine and transmission.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either, but they are different cars, so keep that in mind when deciding on which to purchase.

If you have kids to cart around the R/T will be a better car. The mustang is lighter, faster, better handling, better looking, has an awesome electronics package...... For my purposes that makes better hands down. It really depends on what you are looking for in a car.
