My cars reason for delayed shipping
Recap: Car ordered on May 24th. Built on June 15th. Resides on ramp CU5P. Never has it seen Area 51.
My dealer is 23 miles from Flat Rock.
The saleman calls me today apologizing that the car has not arrived yet. He would
like to have it delivered so he can register another June sale. After some talking
he states his dealer vehicles are delivered by a non-union hauler. Now I know what
the problem is. The union workers will load cars carried by nonunion haulers LAST. That is,
as long as there are vehicles to load on union haulers, I get to wait. And maybe that
is why some others have been waiting so long.
I know this to be true. My neighbor works the COBO center for the auto show. He tells
me the union run loading dock will unload non-union driven trucks last. At the end of
the auto show, they will load the non-union truck last. I seriously doubt this only occurs
at COBO.
Some Googling tells me the Destination and Delivery fee is passed on from the manufacturer. So
who is saving $ at my time/expense? The dealer or Ford?

As far as destination fees go, it's a flat rate for the whole country. If you live in FL the plant is in MI, you pay $850. If you live in MI, it's $850. If the plant is in TX, it's $850. It sucks, I followed one of my cars down the assembly line, drove 20 minutes home and picked it up a day later at the dealership and cost me $1100 for shipping. That's their way of making it "fair". Imagine living in FL and paying $2000 delivery?

You can make another one green. VIN 119033. Surprise arrival yesterday. No pics yet, took the camera but the battery was dead. Downside of no warning, but the long, agonizing wait is finally over!!!!!
