I am planning on calling my dealer tomorrow just to give a heads up that if the car does not arrive by the end of June to cancel my order. It isn't so much because of the wait but some unexpected expenses have come up. I should just cancel right away but I feel bad doing that to him

 

I did this last week. I'm out of the country for most of July, and by the time I get back I would rather just wait until next year and get an '11 on the cheap.

Aren't the 2012's supposed to start production in January. That's only seven months away.

 

In case you update it again, mine (121535) was built 5/21. No clue where it is at.

Most likely we wont have a long year next time. Production will likely start in July of 2011 after the Summer Shutdown. Deliveries of 2012's will likely start in September of 2011.

We'll get the order guide this November, only four and a half months away.

 

Yup, Ford is making 2011 a short model year, best guess is that it's either their intent to expect delays with a forthcoming new body style in a few years or they're just trying to position the model year better for summer release, making sure all the dealers have some on hand and retail orders all get delivered by Memorial Day.

 

It would have been nice to receive my 2011 by Memorial Day this year

A car built 53 units after mine was delivered 4 days ago. I have to see mine this week!

 

Ours are less than 150 apart and mine is actually on the way -- literally at the distribution point waiting for truck transport to the dealer -- SINCE LAST THURSDAY!

So any day now. Today? Tomorrow? When hell freezes over?

 

Mine hasn't hit the dealership either. They must have taken a 3 day weekend because mine got there friday and no movement that I can tell yet.

 

I think the distribution point got overwhelmed. Weeks have gone by with very few cars coming from AAI and suddenly thousands of them start to ship. And I'm sure to the logistics company doing the offloading and truck transport a Mustang is no different than a Cobalt. They'll ship 'em when they ship 'em.

All of this really makes me wonder what the $850 is for . . . How about a $0 factory delivery option???

 

I read on AFM that Ford CS calls your dealer and notifies them every time you call CS. I don't know if it's true, but I'm sure the people at my dealer think I'm insane.

Needless to say, I'm wondering if my car has had any updates over the weekend. I just talked to my dealer on Friday but I don't wanna bug him again so soon. Maybe tomorrow?
