Base model '12 GT cheaper than base model '11 GT???

Note: Before you read this, I sold cars for 6 years, so I know what I am talking about.

I have been looking for a new 5.0 for a few weeks now. I have been going back and forth between a Premium GT Brembo car and a base model.

Because this is a secondary car for me, I decided to go with the base model.

The cheapest base GT 2011 window sticker I have seen is $30,495 this is with no options. I just checked out a base GT 2012 window sticker and it said $29,995!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised. From what I can tell it has the exact same options as the '11. I can't believe the car didn't go up a few hundred dollars simply because its a new model year.

I will buy it tomorrow if the deal falls through on the car!

I just read that after I typed my post. That's pretty cool.

My local dealer told me there's a $500 rebate already on the '12

Yeah, the base price was dropped pretty much solely so Ford could say you can get 400hp for under $30k. Which is technically true. As soon as you start checking option boxes, though, that difference gets made up real quick.

Base went down and premium went up.

Don't take one at sticker though, or even $500 off with the incentive.

There are already dealers discounting their new 2012's more than that, at least around here there are.

More than technically true; I bought my new '11 GT for just $28K after rebate, and that included the Brembo Pkg and 3.73 gears.

Yeah, you need to factor in rebates and such. I bet you can't get the 1500 rebate the 750 coupon and the 500 dealer rebate and the financing many 2011's got. So it all works out. I got 1500 and the 750 and 500 and 3.99 and they and and gave me pretty much cost on the car before they applied any of the above discounts.
