Either way, FBW is the way of the times, I too like a good wire connection to the throttle but it just isn't happening anymore. Kind of sucks but it may be for the best.

On the gears, I still liked the 3.31 1-5th. Seems like it makes more sense for the fuel mileage anyway.
Actually, the first F-16 pilots DID complain about the FBW. The manufacturer had to engineer feedback into the stick to make it more realistic.

I know, I was just joshing.

The original F-16 stick had zero movement and zero feedback. I would have hated it too. I still don't really like it. It moves what feels like a whopping 16th of an inch. It's more than that but it doesn't feel it. Still very unintuitive but it works now. Or it was an adaption. Much like anything else, over time it should get better. Even Black Hawks will soon be going fly by wire.

For those who weren't aware, there was a fly-by-wire fighter jet in the 50's(!)...until it was cancelled.

And yes, that is a maple leaf on the side.
More details can be found here.

Well played. Though without doing any research, it looks French. I am wrong though, somewhat Russian. Good think the Canadians saved it and did better. Too bad it never made service.

I added a link to details about it above the picture. It was a purely Canadian clean sheet design, the company and a number of the engineers had ties to England.

After it was canceled, a lot of the top engineers went to NASA to create and launch the space program.
