Anyone sticking to 5W-50, Amsoil has you covered now.

Its **** like posted above that makes Amsoil look like a cult, and it is a cult as far as I can tell. All you have to do is post anything with the word Amsoil in it and people will suddenly appear to post how great it is. Some of them might be people that haven't posted in years, some of them will be people that just joined yesterday.
Not saying its not a good oil, just saying it has a cult like following.
Waits for the rest of the cult to post in this thread, it will come, be sure to look at the join dates, and how many posts they have, lol.
I'll sit over here and wait.

Any further talk on Amsoil being good or better than other oils is futile. For some reason few topics stir up controversy like an oil debate. Just look it up and do some research, check independent tests and use whatever you feel most comfortable using. For me that's Amsoil. For others maybe not. I do know that most people who start using it don't switch back.

Just was wondering what I might be missing out on. It Seems to be good from what I read. I use Mobil1 but that's because it's on sale at Costco. I thought Mobil1 was good but now I'm not so sure. And I just bought 3 cases. Should I return them? Also is 5W-50 better then 5W-20?

I think the better question is, why does the EB recommend 5W30 when the V6 and 5.0 models call for 5W20. You are aware the Ford models here in the US call for 5W20 weight yet the same Ford model in Europe calls for 5W30 weight. Same engine , same tight engine specs but two different oil weights! Why is that sir?
Does Europe have US Cafe regulations?

And I'll ask again - if that is true for Ford - that they only changed it for US CAFE, then why didn't Chrysler?? Same oil in their 2.4L DOHC from 2001 - 2010 - 5w-30. If it was a trick to beat CAFE, Chrysler would have also changed to 5w-20. Engines are engineered for best oil - doesn't mean you can't make your own decision, but you're guessing without any engineering proof. Quit lying that Ford is simply using trickery.
But that's what I like about you - you have a great memory. It's just short.

We've been through that. More than once. You have zero engineering data - only forum rubbish from the interwebs.

I don't care what oil weight or brand you or anyone else uses. I'm not saying 5W20 is bad for an engine but 5W30 will work just fine and that's what I'm using. If 30 weight is good for Fords European vehicles with the same tight engine specs, its good enough for me. All good sir. Back to Amsoil and the cult.
