I'm in the cult and I always sacrifice a goat before I change the oil in my car.

Some of them might be people that haven't posted in years, some of them will be people that just joined yesterday.

Not saying its not a good oil, just saying it has a cult like following.

Waits for the rest of the cult to post in this thread, it will come, be sure to look at the join dates, and how many posts they have, lol.

I'll sit over here and wait.
I really fail to see how I am a cultist for my comment. Hell I haven't even used Amsoil yet. All I'm saying is that if you are ashamed of using a product because other people like it, don't use it. No need to be butthurt over it.

Just was wondering what I might be missing out on. It Seems to be good from what I read. I use Mobil1 but that's because it's on sale at Costco. I thought Mobil1 was good but now I'm not so sure. And I just bought 3 cases. Should I return them? Also is 5W-50 better then 5W-20?

Better in what way? 5W50 weight is thicker weight.

If you don't track race as in auto X then I would see no reason to use such a weight as 50. I personally use 5W30 weight but 20 weight will work just fine. The 20 weight is for U.S. CAFE regulations and fuel MPG.

Still addicted to that drug eh? And so why isn't it used in EB4 if its just a fleet trick for CAFE?

I think the better question is, why does the EB recommend 5W30 when the V6 and 5.0 models call for 5W20. You are aware the Ford models here in the US call for 5W20 weight yet the same Ford model in Europe calls for 5W30 weight. Same engine , same tight engine specs but two different oil weights! Why is that sir?

Does Europe have US Cafe regulations?

I'd guess that the EB uses thicker oil because of the turbo itself. Those turbo bearings take a lot of abuse through heat and extreme RPMs.

We've been through that. More than once. You have zero engineering data - only forum rubbish from the interwebs.
And I'll ask again - if that is true for Ford - that they only changed it for US CAFE, then why didn't Chrysler?? Same oil in their 2.4L DOHC from 2001 - 2010 - 5w-30. If it was a trick to beat CAFE, Chrysler would have also changed to 5w-20. Engines are engineered for best oil - doesn't mean you can't make your own decision, but you're guessing without any engineering proof. Quit lying that Ford is simply using trickery.
But that's what I like about you - you have a great memory. It's just short.

Sir, who said Ford is using trickery???? Not I. I don't think there is any trickery by Ford. Ford is just trying to make vehicles as fuel efficient as possible and keep with the CAFE regulations. Nothing wrong with that and no trickery there. My memory is completely fine thanks and if you want to use 5W20, rock out. You accused me last time about this trickery theory of yours. We covered this the last time and my opinion on this matter hasn't changed.

I don't care what oil weight or brand you or anyone else uses. I'm not saying 5W20 is bad for an engine but 5W30 will work just fine and that's what I'm using. If 30 weight is good for Fords European vehicles with the same tight engine specs, its good enough for me. All good sir. Back to Amsoil and the cult.
