Finally an amsoil that meets the Ford specs for 5W50. And please, this post is not to debate having to or not having to use 5W50 so let's not go there.

I've always put in whatever grade it says on the oil cap. 5w50 on the cap? 5w50 it is. I've just never been a fan of Amsoil. But nice to know there's another option.

It says it's recommended for the specification. Not that it actually meets the specification. Just FYI

How does this tread make Amsoil look like a cult. Its simple really. Use it or don't. Its purely a preference thing. Have used Amsoil in everything I have owned including my motorcycles, snowblower and lawn mower. If that makes me part of a cult so be it. Never had one engine problem in all the years I have been using it. Was happy they came out with a 5w50 for fords spec. Not saying its better than others, just what I prefer. To each their own.

Then don't use it. It won't bother anyone in the slightest. It's that simple.

Its **** like posted above that makes Amsoil look like a cult, and it is a cult as far as I can tell. All you have to do is post anything with the word Amsoil in it and people will suddenly appear to post how great it is. Some of them might be people that haven't posted in years, some of them will be people that just joined yesterday.

Not saying its not a good oil, just saying it has a cult like following.

Waits for the rest of the cult to post in this thread, it will come, be sure to look at the join dates, and how many posts they have, lol.

I'll sit over here and wait.

If you're spending $12 a quart to put oil in your lawn mower, you're in a cult.

Let me guess, it runs better than it ever has, it cuts grass better than any other mower like it, and it uses less fuel than any other mower in the neighborhood?

Yep. Cult.

Thank you for the information, I use this and other boards to collect information and ideas and while personally I have never used this particular product I now have an additional option for my oil choices in the future.
P.S. Sorry your well intended post is getting so out of hand, it happens on chat boards. If you find other useful information in the future please don’t let this current oddness stop you from spreading the news.

And here we go. LOL I love oil threads. Apparently cars never ran until Amsoil came along. How in the hell did anyone manage to drive for the last hundred years or so?

I use Amsoil exclusivly and have for years. And I pay $7.75 a quart. One of the few true synthetics left since Mobil 1 and Royal Purple changed their formulas and are no longer true synthetics.

Oh and I run 10W-30.

What is Amsoil? Never used it. Is it good? What's the difference between Amsoil and other oils?

Any further talk on Amsoil being good or better than other oils is futile. For some reason few topics stir up controversy like an oil debate. Just look it up and do some research, check independent tests and use whatever you feel most comfortable using. For me that's Amsoil. For others maybe not. I do know that most people who start using it don't switch back.

Just curious but what do you not like about Amsoil? I don't use the stuff!

When did Royal Purple and Mobil 1 extended performance no longer become a base IV true synthetic motor oil? To my knowledge Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple and Mobil 1 EP are the only true fully synthetic motor oils. Unless something recently changed which is possible!

As far as Amsoil being a cult, that's funny stuff. Very interesting perspective on a car product that has a good reputation and loved by thousands of users. I personally have never used Amsoil but am sure it will work just the same as many other oils. Its oil, change it on a regular basis and an engine will be just fine regardless of which brand.

This cult comment brings back funny memories too me as I heard the same thing when Croftgate detailing products were mentioned about how Croftgate was a cult. Ha ha ha!

This prompted me to look up the definition of Cult and while it as many meanings and have come to my conclusion based on the comment here of Amsoil being a cult.

Apple products are a cult. Android products are a cult. Mustang is a cult. Ford is a cult. American Muscle is a cult. Bama is a cult. NFL is a cult. MLB is a colt. NHL is a colt.

You guys are too funny! OP, thank you for the information!
