That's impressive, don't think I've kept stock tires on any of my cars for over 1k miles. I sell mine to other Mustang club members and donate the money to the club.

I have just over 32K on my stock pirelli tires, and still within the wear mark indicators. I have rotated them every 10K (third rotation). Very pleased with the perfect even wear. I may replace these with another set of pirelli's when they are due.

I personally would not have worn my tires as low as you did. I too live in Florida (central), and drive daily in the afternoon thunderstorms we get during the summer. With almost a 200 mile round trip daily, I value my life, as well as the others that share the road with me, so driving on a set of tires that where worn as your were would not happen with me no matter how good a driver I think I may be, or how good the car handles. No car can make up for hydro-planing, and your tires did nothing to help channel water.

Agreed, I had planned on replacing them months ago (begining of the year), but one thing after another prevented me from getting them eariler. What part of central fl. are you? We have property up there and plan on retiring there. The second time I leave south Florida will be for good.

Just over 30k on my stock BFG's as well and the winter tires are being swapped on in the next week or so. I picked up new wheels which will go on in the spring with a set of new, to be determined, all seasons.

The stock tires are being disposed of when the winters get swapped on. They are definitely not as low as yours that have 40k. Looks pretty dangerous to me too

I used to live in Boca Raton, when Siemens was there. They moved me back to Central Florida, then closed up that facility and moved us all to Dallas Texas. After 4 years in Dallas, away from the family (wife and son stayed in Orlando), I left the company of 28 years, and now work for a local telephone/cable company.

I'm in Central Florida, small community. PM me if you'd like for the details....I was happy to get out of South Florida.

To the OP,

Did you ever take the car to the drag strip with those tires at any point?

If Florida is anything like Virginia unless there is an accident you wont get randomly pulled over for something like that.

In Va at least there is no minimum tread depth specification. Here's an interesting observation. I wore the BFGs on my GT500 just as bad and they actually worked better in the rain than a brand new set of Nitto NT05R DOT drag radials.

No, never went to the track. Moroso is in WPB about 80 miles from here. I have a friend with a 300ZX that was going to run with me but we never made it. (The 5.0 would have kicked his but). And as someone else suggested to do a massive burnout before the change. That was in the plan also, get crazy for a few minutes, but never got the chance. My luck, I would have got 2 flats and would have to get towed to the dealer.

Do you have the pirelli all season or summer tires?

I have the all season stock pirelli tires. I have been to the drag strip around 4 times. Never done any burnouts. Just a little flash of the tires before each pass. I wonder if i can last as long as your 41k miles.

I have V6..stock BFG 17" Premium wheels and tires. 50k miles on them now and they still have quite a bit of life left but getting time to replace. Looking at getting some takeoff wheels/tires from Roush. They have the '13 Premium wheels/tires but they can't tell me if I would get a set of the BFGs or the Michelins. I would prefer the BFGs as they are a little wider and look a little better, although same basic tire tread/spec between the two. BFG are 225/60/17. Michelin are 215/65R17.
Also looking at 18" GT wheels/and tires with the 255/50/18 PZero Nero All Season tires but all the threads about them wearing out at 14k miles, etc. are making me nervous. I know I would get more mileage life from the BFGs or Michelins.
Still undecided.

The MT cars came with the BFGs, autos came with the Michelins...

Not entirely true. Convertibles (at least mine) came with the BFGs. Mine is an auto.

The stock Pirellis should last 25-30 K, I think, but you've got to rotate them regularly. They tend to wear very unevenly, at least based on my experience.
