41K on Pirellis
I’ve been sweating bullets for the last 6 months on the bald tires but I got my moneys worth out of them. Semi aggressive driving, (south Florida). Never any burnouts. 41100 miles. I’m really impressed on the handling of the car, even with bald tires. See related story. I replaced them with the Hankook. Saved a few bucks. They feel ok, have to wait to see how they last.

Related story:
I had to pull an early shift a couple of weeks ago driving in at 4am. I-75 south, an 8 lane highway un-inhabited at that hour, in a real heavy downpour the street was full of water as I slowed down to around 65 the car started floating. Still with bald tires, as the road starts to bend to the left the car still floating wants to go straight. A very weird feeling. I never braked but let off the gas and slowed down enough to get control back. I had ended up one lane over to the right. Good thing there were no other cars around. I’m positive if it weren’t for the superb traction in the car I would have been in a high-speed spin. The car went straight as an arrow, even thou the road didn’t.

Nice to have the new skins now, feels like a new car again. Back to semi-aggressive driving.

I can't believe you a) drove in the rain on tires like that, b) didn't get a ticket for them. I'd guess you are about 5-10K past where those tires should have been replaced, but I think you know that...

Not sure whether to congratulate you or tell you you're an idiot My first set of stockers was wearing unevenly by 23K so I replaced and have 15 on the new set, which are wearing like they should now that I'm regularly rotating them, unlike the guy that had this car before me did with the first set!

a) Drove in rain for many years, this is the first car I trust in those conditions, B) They don't issue tickets here in SF for bald tires, to many other issues to deal with daily, C) Got my moneys worth.

Mine still have some life left in them, not much after 10,000ish miles. Now on my snows and will be getting new tires in the spring. Never felt too comfortable on the stock P-zero's, even more so with less tread.

I can't believe that you let these get as low as they are - brave man

You've got a much larger pair than I have to drive a brand new car on a set of tires like that.

a) Trusting the car in those conditions has nothing to do with tempting fate - clearly, by your own story of completely hydroplaning into another lane!
b) I know, I read Jalponik daily.
c) I understand that, and am about ready to replace the tires on my DD Escape - I just can't afford to at the moment, being unemployed.
d) You spent all that work on your iPad dash - I'd hate for you to wreck because of driving on WAY unsafe tires...

Glad you got a new set and got your money's worth, but driving on tires like that, in a 400+ hp car, in the rain is just plain stupid. Fact.

Thanks for all your concerns about my safety. I don't normally drive fast in the rain. Rain storms come up fast and hard here and I know my limitations. I simply recovered and corrected my speed for the situation. I would never push my safety and my cars past the envelope. This is how I have managed not to hit anybody in the last 46 years of driving here in south Florida. I have also kept a cap on my speed under 80 since the tires got bad. That was the hard part.

I bought the HanKook 245/45R19XL VSB HAN VENTUS V12 K110 Online and had them mounted by Sawgrass Ford.
I realized that the time of them mounting the tires that I should of got the 40 instead of the 45. They are a little taller and a little less width. I'm not crazy about them for that reason. Otherwise they are ok. $194.00 ea. Too late to back out.

That size is actually factory-fitment for the California Special models, so you're OK running it, but yeah, not ideal for the Brembo-pkg cars ...

No, not making fun. For real.

Gonna rotate them this weekend, will take pics. 100k miles on tires that came with my previous V6 PP... still plenty of tread with the exception of the insides of the fronts... which I rode on for a while with horrible neg camber until I installed the Maximum Motorsport Caster Camber kit.
