301 RWHP V6 Dyno Run

Got a chance today to get a Dyno Test at the Steeda Show and Shine.

I have been working on building my V6 up but the focus so far has been on handling and stopping before I work on power.

I hadn't planned on doing a Dyno even though I wanted to know the numbers. I just didn't want to be disappointed with a mid 200. Today was a special event so Dyno testing was half price and let's be honest, a bunch of Ponies and a Dyno machine is just a giant pissing contest and I had to throw down. One supercharged 4.0L hit 320 rwhp, another 2011 V6 with CAI, Throttle Body, Spacer and complete tuned exhaust with a SCT 94 Octane tune only hit 302 rwhp.

When it was my turn to roll on the boys at the shop were talking about it because they know me well and wanted to see what she could do. Not only were we blown away at the numbers but the chatter afterwords was priceless.

I was asked to guess my HP and FT/LBS and tossed out 275 and 260. Watch the video and be as surprised as I was, 301 RWHP and 284 FT/LBS! That's just the Cold Air Intake and Tune!

I am really impressed with this and now I know I have a good baseline to build on.Cat backs and Coils are next and that should free up another 20 I hope.

The best part of the day was watching the V8 guys picking up their jaws. Even the Dyno guys came over after and said they didn't expect those numbers!

I've achieved a 13.766 @ 101.86 and have now gotten a top speed of 102.2 mph with the suspension changes on the strip this year. She's equipped with 2.73's and AS Pirellis. I plan on adding 3.73's and Nitto 555R's before the next season starts up.

If you want to know more about the build please visit:

Anyone that may have any other power adder suggestions, other than FI and Juice, please feel free to post. I would love to push 400 rwhp

You got a little demon. Is your car bone stock? If so, why do some of the factory cars have more hp and some less?

Thanks. My iPad won't display sigs.

Anyhow, I would love to have a custom tune but with all the crap you hear about SCT, finger prints, bling mod, and voiding warranties. I'm scared of getting one.

I used the Diablosport Predator on my 2000. ( old school folks will remember that one) it's a whole new ball game now tho.

I was speechless when Pat read out the numbers. My first thought was, "Wow! I didn't get a Friday engine." I got a Friday suspension but that's all gone

I can not wait to get the gears in the spring to make her go!!!

Dyno is only a number. Without a baseline to compare with there's really no way to tell how much you actually gained. Dynos can read high, low, just right. Calibration can affect reading especially on a loaded dynos such as mustang and DD.

Now take that bad boy out to track and compare your trap vs your dyno run and you should get a good idea if those numbers are official.
