From what I understand, it's basically money Ford pays the dealer to sell their car. So if a car's invoice price is 40k, and the dealer sells it to you for 40k, they still make a very small amount of money. If this wasn't there, the dealers would go out of business. It isn't advertized anywhere to my knowledge because Ford doesn't want it to be included in the price game. It's just something a dealer is entitled to get to stay in business.

That is where Deysha comes in. If you PM her your order number, she can follow its progress and give you updates. That said, if you want to make sure your dealer is on the up and up, if they sent you a DORA, send that to me and I can just check it to make sure the Priority is good and such. Its a small percentage of money that is used to help fun the floorplanning costs of keeping the cars on the lot, paying bills, paying employees, etc. And Danny's right. Without it, dealers would be making nothing on the cars and would be out of business. That is why I don't go below invoice UNLESS the car has been here a long time and we have to move it.

However, let's not pretend that hold back money is the only income that pays the bills. There are incentives for sales of a particular vehicle and other programs a dealer can earn money from. If it was just hold back money I'm not sure why a dealer would even sell new cars.

Ok good to know. So Jeff I just wanna make sure there are no other surprises with the price of my car. On the vehicle order confimation sheet it says dealer invoice total 38528.44 and under that, x-plan 38649.33. Minus the 500 incentive plus 257 for the inspection, documentation and registration fees I come up with $38,406.33. Is this the absolute out the door final price?

Did you get the tax in there?

 

No. At this point the dealer can put the order in, and give you a confirmation (about 24 hours later) that the order is accepted as a valid order. Ford will then periodically 'pull' orders to be scheduled to be built.Your order may or may not get scheduled right away.

Ford builds units for dealer stock before they build units for customer orders, so your's may not get pulled right away. At this point is is very early in the process so don't expect anything. Best way to go about it is after you order the vehicle and get your DORA, it will have an order number on it. PM that order number and the name of your dealership to Deysha and she will track it for you and update the status periodically.

As it stands now, if you order a GT and it is ordered as a retail customer order, you are looking at an april/may delivery time frame. You will begin seeing 2013 Mustangs on dealer lots around mid-march.

Black gt coupe, manual,track pack and recaros.

I think the salesmen forgot to give me the paper everyone else is getting ;/ so no order number.

I also put a deposit down today but on a Boss. GHIG and hopefully both options. They dug through the orders of their Mustang's and they new they had 1 scheduled for 1st 1/4 which is what I wanted. Funny though, the tracking details states Green Envy? What gives there. Production week is 3/5/2012. MSRP price though.
