So I suppose it's another week of waiting around. Two trade ins in the garage, all cleaned up and nowhere to take them.

Yes it is, sadly. The thing is, are you trading in both cars at the time of your order? Just remember, you won't see the 2013s until April at the earliest. And most likely the cars built first will be stock units and retail units will be built after the 1st run of dealer stock units.

Yeah but I have a company car to drive around so it's no big deal. Also the dealership is going to list my car as a regular dealership order not a customer order so it will hopefully be built sooner than later. If that makes sense?

Makes sense to me, my dealer is doing the same thing. They said they hadn't placed any dealer stock orders yet, which is how they'll place mine so I'll have one in the first build run. Just patiently waiting on prices...

I dont think most dealers in general know about the 13's. I have probably called a dozen dealers here in SoCal and 95% of them had no clue about 13's. I suspect until price lists and dealer documents come out most will be clueless.

I would suggest looking for a Roush dealer, they usually have a performance group with their own sales team - they should know about the '13. I think Joe Myers Ford in Houston is Texas' largest Roush dealer. Might be one closer to San Antonio though.

Try Bluebonnet in New Braunfels.

I can't think of a good Ford Mustang dealer in SA off the top of my head.

Barricade might know one.

Thanks Mikey that is what I am doing exactly, sent a few emails received phone calls and spoke with a couple of sales people, they are trying to sell a 12 v6 prem performance package for 4000 less that sticker price

It makes sense to a point. The reason Ford builds stock units before retail orders is to make sure there are no pressing issues with the cars before the retail orders are built. Sometimes the problems require cars sitting for weeks on end and for a car that is for general dealer stock, its not a big concern. But to hold a customer's car who is waiting for it, that can lead to a cancelled order. That is why I NEVER switched any of the retail orders I took for the 2011s. It will get built and sooner is not always better than later.

So very very true!! 95% of all car salespeople for normal brands (not exotic/highline) are NOT car people/enthusiasts!!! We are a small percentile that is good for the enthusiast crowd!!!

That's what they ALWAYS DO!!! I hate salespeople who pull that crap!!! Sell the car the customer wants, not what you want to sell them!!!

The main reason for this is simple!!! They want to get paid today, not months from now!!! But the salespeople who don't look at a factory order as "money in the bank" are missing a golden opportunity for future sales, as you didn't pressure them into something they didn't want.

I already have told customer who walk in about the 2013 and shown them pictures. I ask them if they want a 2013 or a 2012. I give them a choice, not take a 2012 as its all I have.

I got a call from my dealer today that said the Q1 orders for his Boss allocations were due today at 3:30PM, even though the price guide has yet to be released.

My dealer told me there are no orders until the prices are released .

A different story from each and every dealer.

I don't buy it one bit!! Wanna know why? Because Ford hasn't come out and said how many Boss 302s each dealer is getting!! The last memo which was posted on here, said that the allocation questions and such would be given in January sometime. I haven't seen anything yet!!

Below is a copy of the letter given to every dealer back in November

To:All Ford Dealers Subject:EFC00903DC 2013 Boss 302 Dealer Allocation
Last year we proved what a Mustang could do on a track and the Boss 302 is back for more, paying homage to the 1970 Boss that made it famous.
It is our hope that this allocation strategy will support your efforts in providing customers with a clear understanding of new and exciting best in class product.
METHODS FOR EARNING ALLOCATION
All Ford dealers will have the opportunity to earn a 2013 Boss 302 Mustang. There are two methods for earning allocation:

SHARE OF NATION
  • Approximately 75% of the 2013 Boss 302 production will be allocated to the Ford dealers as a Share of Nation
  • Those dealers that sell 75% of the retail Mustangs will participate in the Share of Nation allocation (retail Mustang sales % of Nation) -- through October would be the Top 792 Mustang dealers selling 21 or more for the time period
  • 12 months of sales (December 1, 2010 - November 30, 2011) will be used to determine dealers participating in the Share of Nation. A dealers opportunity to increase share of nation allocation or inclusion in the Top 75% is increased with each Mustang sold through the end of November
  • Each of the dealers participating in the Share of Nation is guaranteed at least one Boss 302
LOTTERY
  • Those Ford dealers not participating in the Share of Nation will be entered into a Lottery for the balance of the allocation
  • Each dealership participating in the Lottery will receive one chip (entry into the lottery) for being a dealer and one chip for each retail sale over the 12-month period (December 1, 2010 - November 30, 2011)
  • Those dealers with ZERO Mustang sales over the 12-month period will each receive one chip in the lottery
  • No dealer will earn more then one Boss 302 through the lottery
Note: The Laguna Seca Package will be allocated by a second lottery for all dealers earning a Boss 302 through Share of Nation or Lottery.
To help manage customer expectations for ordering the 2013 Boss 302 Mustang, all 2013 MY dealer production guides will be communicated in early January. Dealers will be given their full year guide numbers along with the quarter(s) their unit(s) will be scheduled. This will enable dealers to manage customer expectations regarding availability and timing. Production is scheduled to begin in March.
QUESTIONS
For more information, please contact you Sales Zone Manager.

The allocations haven't been passed to us yet. Our Zone Rep hasn't told us how many we are getting. We should know sometime this month. But the orders are NOT due yet. They aren't even scheduling them yet.
