2013 Mustang Order Guide

I'm interested in comparing my 2012 Boss 302 to the 2013 Shelby GT500, with a view to maybe buying a new 2013 650 HP Shelby,....

Here's a link I just found.
http://www.stangnet.com/2011/12/16/2...-order-guides/

What does everybody see as the pros & cons of the two vehicles, besides price?
Cheers,
Jouster

Nothing to compare in that link..but currently giving up 100hp to the GT500, but having a much more balanced car makes the Boss a very good alternative to the GT500.

With them making the 2013 650hp, that gap widens substantially so it really depends on what you're looking for in the car. It will be quite a bit more money, but it will put down quite a bit more power too. I think the question that remains is how well that power can be put down to the ground(seeing as that is a problem with the current ones as well)

AIRC, it was a news item released just yesterday.
I don't have time to track the problem down, so I'll just say sorry for the inconvenience, and Merry Christmas!

I think the 2013 GT500 is going to be a real performer! I doubt the Boss will be able to compete against it. But here's the thing- if your mainly doing street driving it's not all that much fun having 650HP. I had a 750 HP Super Snake and yes the car was fun but I was constantly speeding. You want to hear the SC whine and winding it up for a few seconds puts you well over any legal speed limit.

To stay legal I had to just give it 1 second burst of SC, which is not that much fun. With the Boss I can actually have more fun at legal speeds (or just slightly over) and don't have to get into that zone where the cops will impound your car.

I really want to see what the 2013 GT500 can do and hope it crushes the ZL1 but I'm more than happy with the Boss.

Hi Whammer,
Your point on try to stay within the legal speed limit with high horsepower is well made.
Speeding is a constant problem in my new F-150 with the V-6 twin turbo.
Can you believe it! The thing is incredibly fast, and I'm constantly drifting over the limit unless I use cruise control. The Boss is not quite as bad for creeping up over the limit because you can hear listening to the pipes. Where I'm vulnerable with the Boss is 'passing'. I like to open the Boss up passing!
Since I already love driving the Boss and won't be selling it, perhaps I should re-think getting a new 650hp Shelby,... I can't drive both at once!
Cheers,
Jouster

Question

The thing, is do you want a really good handling car that is fun to drive or do you want a car with a supercharger that has a lot of torque that will set you back in the seat when you accelerate. I drive on mostly open roads with few curves. Therefore, I want the 2013 GT500. What type of driving do you do ?

Well, I have more straight roads than curves to drive on.
I like the curvey roads better when I'm on my bike, as the sensation of speed and G-force is what I'm after touring on those roads.
I drive long dstances a lot, so I have to pick my moments of when to step on it, ..... or there'll be no drivers licence left! :-
As for the Boss, I enjoy tromping on itand slipping thru the gears whenever I'm passing, ....... then I just settle back to cruise control at 5 or 10 over the posted limit.
So is it worth getting the new Gt 500 just for that experience?
Cheers,
