It's not Beemer, it's Bimmer!

I'm happy someone had the cojones to put this together. Great comparo, very well done, and highlights the highs and lows of both. It's not the typical gushing for BMW that I'm used to reading. I think it was a fair comparison of each.

I'd love to see them do a 2012 GT500, Boss, and GT/brembo, and V6/PP comparo next year. Really highlight the whole line and show people all the nitty gritty so that consumers can find the Mustang that fits them.

Why was the mustang on the brakes in the second race? Mustang clearly won that one.

I'm here...now before everyone gets their panties in a furl..I have to say those were some of the slowest times I have seen for an M3, not to mention the car tested was on ContiSportContact 3's vs. the better PS2s. The Mustang was on a much better tire with the Pirelli PZero. That being said my hats off to Ford..I am so proud of the Mustang. I knew the Mustang performance wise is going to be a very close if not equal to the M3.

I didn't buy the M3 because I thought it was a better performing car, I bought it because I just liked it better than the S197 Mustang. The interior quality among the lack of an IRS is just a few of the reasons.

Now before everyone starts jumping down my back because of what I just posted, keep in mind I am on M3forum, M3post as well as 6speedonliine defending the Mustang almost daily. My **** has gotten so tough that it would take a lion to take a bite out of my butt.

The PS2s are a much better tire than the Contis..I have the Contis on my M3 and I already changed them out to a Nitto Invo in a 255/285 setup and the amount of grip now is much better.

I just saw the as tested price of the 2011 M3 in the Car and Driver shootout with the CTS-V and it was 79k!!!!!!! that is just insane that a M3 loaded is going for that kind of money....The CTS-V at 71k is a deal compared to the M3....

The M3 in that test also did 0-60 in 3.9 and ran the 1/4 mile in 12.4@114.8mph. I don't think you can get an M3 to that price level. The most I have seen is $75k, my car with ZCP package, premium package and navigation stickered at $67k.

The Mustang that probably has my name on it is going to be the 2014 Stang..when they get away from all the retro and finally put the live rear axle out to pasture.

Guys..don't get me wrong..I love the stang and it is amazing what Ford did.

I'm kinda confused by the sudden gap at the end. They were even coming out of the last curve, yet the BMW managed to get a few feet ahead quite suddenly, despite the REPEATED ties in the quarter. Though I did notice that at some point in the middle of the quarter the BMW did pull ahead slightly, maybe that was all it was.

But still, we can't lost sight of the fact that a Mustang just got compared to an M3 and came within a tenth of a second of dethroning the king. No one dared to try this with the Camaro, nor are they going to in the foreseeable future.

BTW guys...the Mustang is getting good props on the M3 boards, granted there is a few fanbois on these sites with "but its a Ford" attitude but no matter what you do you will never change their minds to their arrogance. Then again if I had a nickle everytime I have been told to get my "eurotrash" car out of here I would have paid for the car in cash..

There are some in every ilk. No fan base is full of saints.

I personally like to give credit where credit is due. How else are you going to be able to identify where you can do better?
