LOL and this is why they make things like this so you can choose to like it or go hmmm never would have thought of that keep up the good work finding the limits of this car

 

I think the cammed tune sounds awesome. The only problem is with these cars having a Black Box, the dealer can tell if the car has had a tune and it will void the warranty.

I would think they have been planning that all along when they went back to DOHC.
Back in the day (70's) we had adjustable cam sprockets (manual of course) on my DOHC Lotus.
Today we accomplish the same thing, but with the tech of the ECU + TiVCT.

 

Tune did that....wow! Impressive.

 

I like it a lot! I can't afford or even want to tear into my motor! I am trying to talk myself out of getting a tune, maybe not? I think I would buy this one!

Yeah, I'm not the typical Mustang owner, though. I don't peel out, costs $ I don't have; ever speed cause could lead to license taken away, for life; guess I'm just was happy with my 215 HP in my 95! Sure I want to drive like it wants to be driven, no desire to though! After you've lived through the crap I've lived through, just don't take any chances. Just still happy I can drive @ all! Maybe for this sound, never to go faster.

 

I was told this buy a Ford Tech, that has been fixing Fords for over 15 years. I figured he would know more then anyone.

It's not going to keep me from getting a tune weather it does or doesn't void the warranty.

Maybe there is a Ford tech on here that has worked on one that it didn't affect the Black Box.

 

This is what I have read too but in order for the warranty to be voided, the problem would have to be directly related to the tune.

The black box is not what is flashed during a tune. The ECU is not the black box. The BB is a telemmetry based data acquisition device.

When you flash your ECU with a new map, it resets the volatile memory in the ECU. If you flash it back to stock, all the tech will see when they connect is that your memory was reset. Oddly enough, this is the same thing that happens when you pull the terminal off of the battery.

So, your tech was feeding you some poorly worded BS.

I love how this sounds. I would 'maybe' like to have one for my V-6 if one was ever made.

 

The one for the V6 sounds so nasty, like a cammed Supra or bridgeport rotary at idle.

 

one thing about working in the auto industry for my brief 4 years.. just because someone works on a line of cars for 15 years.. doesnt mean they know everything about the newer cars.. most older techs hate the new line cars cause most of them cant understand the new computer systems.. that being said, there are the exceptions. on top of that, most techs dont bother reading that far in depth into the vehicles unless they have a problem in that specific area on a vehicle.

but from everything i red, Overboost is right, and my local dealer confirmed that.

Jon Lund can do just about anything. I'd recommend getting in touch with him directly; you'll probably get an answer a lot faster.

 

So.... massaging the overlap for a cool idle is one thing... but did it increase top end HP performace like overlap should?

 

Seems like just a gimmick to me. I'd prefer real cams instead of just pretending. The term 'ricer' comes to mind.
