i doubt it, because after 1400rpms, it shifts back to the normal tune..

So far as I've heard, it's just for idle at the moment. Logical would indicate, however, that if the overlap can be adjusted at idle...one should be able to adjust it throughout the entire revband. Baby steps, perhaps? Not sure.

Well we know Ford has already programmed some of that into the ECU, restricting overlap at idle so as to meet emission standards, then increasing overlap for performance at higher rpm's.

So it will be interesting to see how the tuners play with that top end overlap in addition to their typical ignition timing advance and A/F settings. And how far they can improve performance with overlap until they hit the limits of the existing cam profiles.

This is no gimmick, it's real sound, from a real motor you're hearing. Big difference.

LOL if my RSX had sounded like this i might have kept it .. ummm maybe not it still had zip for power below 3k and my car now i can let the clutch out and it moves.. Not having to rev it to move is so sweet.. Now if it sounds like this so much the better. Cuz if you can back it up it it's not BS is it ?? and this 5.0 moves !! the more i drive it the more i am liking it

I come from a racing background and if it has no purpose or function, other then just to show off, then to me it's just a gimmick. Put real cams in, which will create this sound, then it will be cool. But to pretend?....come on. (not trying to insult the guys that like it. I just think it's pointless)

You obviously don't have a Boss302 with track key on order ! Just sayin'.
But i hear ya'....to each their own, but as soon as this gimmick comes out ...I want one. To me it's a nice symphony of what Ti-VCT and ECU can do together.
I come from the old school as well, i know what you mean. Check out this link, this was my last baby not too long ago, and yes it has a big cam in it, no gimmick i swear !

One of the most beautiful things I've heard/seen! My wife and I laid about 2 blocks of rubber behind us in a 69 Mach1 leaving the church after our wedding. Hell with an old limo! I'm going to go out in STYLE!

Anyways, as far as the original post goes, I think it's neat that they can do this with only the tune but does this tune produce more power than a normal tune or is it only a modification for how the cams behave when the car is idling?

If it's just to change the way it sounds at idle, I kinda side with Jay45dee on this one. It's neat but sort of misleading in a certain way.

As long as the rest of the tune gives you power with that lope then I think it's fine though.

I think it sounds awesome. The exhaust has been changed also. It probably has longtube headers aswell.

If BAMA eventually does this (for the 5.0 and/or V6), it would be great considering we have free tunes for life.
