A/C is standard equipment, so the idea has been sorta superseded anyhow...

Those wheels may look pretty good in the flesh. I like that the charcoal/flat black color extends from the spokes into the wheel lug area--some thoughtfulness was applied there!

As I said in a posting a week or two ago, not much is wrong with the mid-life S197 styling update that a quad-cam Gasoline-Direct-Injected four-valve 5.0 V8 and Tremec 6060 can't cure within minutes after signing the papers! But the talk is 2010 or 2011

There's even talk--again--of the 6.2 becoming the Shelby engine--which would make some sense but only if it's got an aluminum block.

What we need here is hardware...

Greg...
With Fords new found mission on pumping HP up, but keeping weight down...
I HIGHLY doubt you'll see the 6.2 in any Mustang...
I know we all want a high displacement engine to beat the tar out of...

That's not to say whats coming down the pipe will suck,
cause it won't...
Just wait and see, we'll have some firepower ... don'tchu go worryin

I'm sure this has been talked about here, but any chance of the 6060 in 2010?

The general consensus is that both the 4.6L and the transmission will carry over for 2010, and that any new engine/tranny combo won't arrive until 2011.

Its gonna look like the 2010! Ford's new way of cars/trucks is introduce the new style 1st, then the following year add the new powertrains (see the 2009 Escape).

I meant the car, with the powertrain. I should have clarified

DarkCandy08GT: Nah, I ain't really lettin' up--I'm just catchin' my breath for my next rage

Deep in my stomach, I feel that twin turbos may wind up bolted to some version of the new 3.5 V6, although it might be at 3.7 liters instead. Gentlemen, I just can't see twin turbos making it to any Ford V8 in a production vehicle This ain't the way I want it to be, but I think it is the way it will be...A twin-turbo V6 would be killer in a Terlingua Racing Team Mustang, or in the various other offerings by some of the other legendary Mustang tuners who have branched out into V6s.

I am not genetically opposed to V6s--some of my best friends drive them, but I willingly admit that I'm glad my daughter didn't marry one. But in a car the size/weight of a Mustang, a V8 is what makes a great car a leader, a legend, and an icon.

The twin turbos need to be there, and they need to be there affordably. Hence, the twin turbo 5.0 V8 has to be a regular engine option on a Mustang GT instead of on a Special Edition or on a tuner offering. It's OK for Shelby to offer a hotter twin turbo 5.0 V8 than the version offered in Mustang GTs, but the twin turbo 5.0 V8 can't be exclusively a tuner Mustang product. It's simply a matter of price--the new 5.0 V8 will cost more than the current three-valve 4.6 without any turbo(s), so the twin-turbo 5.0 has gotta be a factory engine option. A factory Special Edition ("Boss 302", "Mach 1", or just "5.0") would be plenty costly enough without the mark-up associated with tuner versions--and I ain't even gonna conjecture what manner of dealer gouging might apply! Sadly, if there ever is a twin turbo 5.0 V8 Mustang, it will be an expensive tuner car with a huge mark-up for parts, labor, and profit...

I can't rage about this--my ancient Cherokee ancestors tell me it is "The Way of Too Much of a Good Thing"--and it is considered to be evil by The Great Spirit...

Alas! Or, in the tongue of my ancient ancestors: "Boo-Koo-Boom-Boom-Two-Dolla-Gee-Aye"

The TT5.0v8 would probably (at this time) be too much for the run of the mill GT or even SE.
Its more than likely capable of Shelby like proportions in power and beyond.

We're more aft to see the v6TT in the mustang, but again...its probably cheaper to put the 5.0L in the GT than a ttv6. And once the DI version comes out, even more efficient.

For the time being, I'd bet on the 5.0 GT and we still haven't seen the full power of this battlestation...
I mean 5.4

Boomer: I hope you're right, Boom! Be aware that the GT500 is the only 5.4 application in a street-legal Mustang to date, although the 5.4 has been around a long time. The 6.8 V10 figures to be an easy drop-in, too, and would mate right up to the transmissions available. But it hasn't happened yet--even the tuner manufacturers haven't introduced a V10 Mustang yet. A good N/A 5.0 V8 and a Tremec 6060 works for me...

All-aluminum naturally-aspirated GDI DOHC Quad-cam 5.0 V8 > Any twin turbo V6.

I remember reading how the 5.4 in the Shelby is not anywhere near its potential for a street legal/production vehicle.
It's basically software horsepower to be able to turn up the volume.

I have no doubt we'll see it pumping up the volume over the next little while.
Unless something better comes out
