It isn't my Shelby, it belongs to a friend of mine. That's us, in the BBORR (Big Bend Off Road Race) taking 1st place in the 125mph class. He drove, I navigated. We were 0.075 seconds off a perfect run in our class. Of the 156 cars that ran, only 8 were less than 0.075 seconds from a perfect run, and they all ran rally computers. I had the course notes, a pen, a timer and my brain calculating splits. First time running together.

Stunning shots Nathan! I might have to drive to Minn, just to get the ultimate photo of my car. Great scenery!

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment. You must have prepared well. Does your friend have any racing experience?....nice job!

Thanks! I prepared by going over the notes a few days ahead of the race, driving it twice on Friday in my own Shelby, then sitting down the night before and calculating some split times for the two legs that we could use to figure out where we were compared to where we needed to be at certain points on the track. Since we were off so much in the first leg, I had to scrap the first set of splits for the 2nd leg and redo them with an estimated avg. speed that we needed to hit to make up the error in time. I came up with about 20 splits in the last ten miles or so to give us a pretty accurate picture. It worked.

It's the first time we've worked together on a race but we probably will work together again on some other races. We've been friends for a while but we're both usually driving at the events we go to.

Entry fees are about a grand not including room, board, safety equipment for the class you want to run, race fuel if you use it. It used to be less expensive but insuring the event gets more pricey every year.

Very cool. I've read about BBOR and Sandhills in Nebraska and the Silver state classic in NV. Did you guys take any videos of your runs? Those have to be a bucket list items!

You definitely have a one off detailed engine bay Gabe.. Can't wait to see how great the coolant reservoirs turn out.. Wonder if you can also hydro dip your brake fluid reservoirs as well

Thanks, but as far as the brake fluid reservoir, I have black covers for that area and for the battery, I use these covers only at shows usually, and they clean up the look a lot.
And no, I don't plan on hydro-dipping them too ... I think it would be too much

This is what they look like installed (pic was taken about a month ago and sorry but it's a bit blurry):
