Given the great success of the new Euro Focus here in the States, Ford should just bring this thing over too with a bare minimum of necessary federalization changes.
This is true of the 5-door version too. The runaway success of the 5-door Focus should finally drive a stake through the heart of the belief here that hatchbacks will never sell. Cheaply done, poorly styled hair-shirt econohatches maybe not, but well designed, well executed hatches that are stylish and sophisticated, heck yeah!

None, right? Market for them is just non-existing.
Even when it comes to compacts the sedan is outselling the hatchback. And Chevy Cruze, which is availabe as sedan only, is outselling Focus by a large margin.

Yeah, but how many mid-size hatchbacks are there for sale in the USA?

Ford claims that roughly half of Fiesta buyers are opting for the five-door hatchback and 41 percent are opting for the Focus hatchback, with the latter figure on the rise.

The last I heard was that Fiesta sedan is outselling the hatchback 60:40.
Either way, sedans are selling better. I wouldn't mind seeing both Fusion/Mondeo sedan and hatchback in the USA, but offering the hatchback alone would be a disaster.
Anyways, the pic of Mondeo station wagon which I took in Croatia few weeks ago. I was there for a week and saw this car parked there every single day by the beach. My Golf is parked next to it.

Amazing little car! I am so glad Ford has it's act together and is finally making small cars that are competitive and substantial instead of low rent crap boxes.
It is first class and upscale unlike any Focus or predecessor before it. Though it's not supposed to be a fast car,it is certainly fun and comfortable to drive and great on fuel economy. It's loaded up with a sunroof and My Ford Touch which we have had no problems at all using unlike so many other complainers of the system.
The interior design is amazing and the new shapes really make the Mustang seem dated. The steering wheel and controls feel great in the hands. The stitching on the wheel and seats is really intricate and complex in Euro fashion. Even the door pulls feel good as you can actually wrap your hand around them to close the doors. The polished aluminum trim on the door handles, steering wheel, shifter and e-brake handle are first class... NOT at all painted low rent pieces. The color adjustable and "smart" ambient lighting is nice.
I am looking forward to the newest Ford design DNA being adapted to the Mustangs. Retro is done and I am ready for dynamic new seductive shapes. I am going to get the use out of my 08 Mustang and wait to see how I feel when the new 2015 models come out. I would not even consider a 2013 model at this point because it will just be more of the same and the all new model is only two years away.
