Resurrection of the GT..... Again
soooooooooo the shortblock I built wasn't bulletproof lol. My oil consumption issue got serious and from the sound of things, the bearings didn't like it. Arin was one of the lucky few who saw the puddle my ride leaves behind, so I'm sure he'll provide some insight lol
Currently, the GT sits broken at my work in the north bay. The plan? Well, I found a nice deal on a complete Mach 1 motor on Craigslist.....

That's awesome. Seriously if you want a hand with anything I'm sure Arin and I could lend one. I would love to be part of a project like this, and maybe you can teach us to not fear the modulars.

thanks guys. I'm trying to get my work to sign off on letting me do the swap there since all my tools are there and I would have access to a lift and air tools. If they don't, I'll let you know.
More in depth this time around. I found this article:
http://www.modularrevolutiontech.com/4V%20Swap.htm
on 2v to 4v swaps and it seems pretty comphresive. It seems I have some parts to pick up though. Most interesting is the front cover swap.
The motor I'm looking to score is this:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts/1485625886.html
Complete long block with the engine harness and ECU. The ECU doesn't matter much to me since all Ford OBD 2 ECU's are the same, they just require a burn to control the functions. On that note, I'm switching to SCT and local boys AED will be handling the tuning.
Trans wise, I'm keeping my T-45. I hate the 3650. IMO, the T45 is stronger and I like the clutch setup I have. I'll switch to a alum. flywheel this time around though.
Exhaust, I'm debating on. As much as I like my long tubes, I want to be able to smog and register the car here. I'm thinking I might be able to slip by if I can smog it at work. We'll see on that.
Oh yeah, the Mach motor will not be stock. I'm already looking at some upgrades to do with the motor out of the car, including camming it

ok, so problem. Or not a problem
I ran a boroscope through #7 and #8 cylinders and there's no damage to the block or pistons. The valvetrain shows good movement, but from the looks of it, the valves aren't closing all the way. Plus there is alot of build up on them. ALOT!
I'm thinking along with a heavy-line tech from work that the heads are jacked and she may just need heads. Only true way is to pull the head and find out

shopping list:
- Trick Flow 38cc Street/Strip heads
- Trick Flow Track Heat intake, black
- Trick Flow valve covers, black
- Modular HeadShop Trick Flow Stage 2.5 spec
- Modular HeadShop matched OEM Cam Gears
I should have the moolah to purchase all of this in the next week or 2. A good thing as my work doesn't like having my car sit there. I'm cashing in some of stocks to get this stuff. Thankfully I was smart in my Army days to invest enough to do this and have plenty left over for retirement (even though that is more than 30 years off lol)
Oh yeah, I'm also cashing in enough to get a reliable daily driver. Lately, there's been some good P71 Crown Vic's on Craigslist
If anyone knows where I can get Trick Flow heads right away, let me know. Summit is out of stock til January 9th

Hey bud. I know we haven't really talked much on CA-Mustangs or on here, but I'm in the area and would be down to come help/watch/supply beer if you like

We all need to try to hook up for a cruise. I'm PMing you guys about an every-week thing in the area. Don't want to get too off topic in here, but I wouldn't mind having a meet and greet type deal.
